Nick Moss has released the full tracklisting and artwork for his upcoming eighth studio release, Privileged, due out March 16.

The 11-track album features both Moss originals – including the album-closing instrumental “Bolognious Funk” – and covers. Among the songs being covered are Cream’s “Politician” and Steven Stills’ “For What It’s Worth.”

Moss again produced the album and was joined in studio by members of his Flip Tops, Gerry Hundt (bass, guitar) as well as drummer Bob Carter. In addition to Hundt and Carter, Moss got musical assistance from “Stumpy Hutchkins” and John Kattke. Full tracklisting for the album is as follows:

  1. Born Leader
  2. Louise
  3. Georgia Redsnake
  4. Privileged At Birth
  5. Politician
  6. She's So Fine (Born Blind)
  7. Tear ’Em Down
  8. For What It's Worth
  9. Why Should I Care
  10. Your Love's A Lie
  11. Bolognious Funk

Moss is in for a busy 2010. He’s already been out on tour to promote the upcoming record, including a gig opening for Buddy Guy at Guy’s Chicago club Legends earlier this month. He and the Flip Tops are also nominated for their 16th Blues Music Award, up for the prestigious Band of the Year award.

The band will be on the road in March through May, where they’ll appear at the BMAs in Memphis and the first dates of the summer are already being lined up (dates courtesy of Pollstar).

About Josh Hathaway

  • Please do. Now that I’m almost recovered from this latest bout of sinusitis/bronchitis, I feel ready to really tackle some serious blues. I got a nice dose last week, and I’m sure to get another dose tomorrow night, but c’mon…NICK MOSS! Las Vegas! It makes perfect sense.

  • Josh Hathaway

I absolutely will. I have a feeling those are just the first run of dates, but I’ll let it be known they need to find Vegas before long.

  • I’m waiting for him to add Las Vegas to that list. The Railhead awaits. As do I. Pass that along.

  • Josh Hathaway

Okay, “Politcian” makes total sense and he just KILLS it! “For What It’s Worth” is going to surprise you. I like it. Some people may not. He puts his own spin on it. “Bolognious” is another in his long string of great instrumentals.

  • “Bolognious Funk”, heh.

“Politician” is a cool choice, not sure about “For What It’s Worth” but we’ll have to see.
