NME reports that Bob Dylan will release his first studio album in five years. The album is said to be titled “Modern Times” and is due out on August 28th. A number of journalists were allowed a sampling of the album last week but had to sign legal documents saying they wouldn’t talk about the music they had heard.
Google is preparing to launch GBuy, an online payment system on June 28th. The payment system will at first be limited to users of Google Base to make payments on purchases but has the possibility of being extended to Google-approved vendors in the future. The service will initially be free, but Google is intending on making the fee around 1.5-2 per cent of the sale price. The service will be targeted at small vendors who do not take credit card payments.
The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation and Tupac’s mother Afeni have announced the Tupac Legacy Tour. The tour will kick off on the 10th anniversary of the rapper’s death and will feature a line-up of artists playing Tupac songs. The tour is currently scheduled to have 25 U.S. dates. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Tupac Amaru Shakur Centre for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
