The Billboard charts are still the 'gold standard' when it comes to album sales single sales in the music business, but the iTunes Music Store has become a major force in music's marketplace. In fact, the iTunes Music Store sells 1 out of every 4 songs sold in the U.S.
Billboard still probably gives the best cross section of music buyers, while the iTunes charts give a glimpse into the younger audience as music downloaders tend to be younger, more tech-savvy audience.
