Win Two Tickets to Motley Crue

As announced today, Motley Crue, "The band you never thought you'd see live again," is back, bigger then ever with an anthology album (which includes 3 new songs), 29 city tour, and a DVD.

The DVD is produced by Clear Channel, who is also promoting the show and distributing the DVD. Harry Hamilton will be at the helm for the shoot. Hamilton is best known for his work on U2, Madonna, and Peter Gabriel concert shoots.

Clear Channel is excited to be involved in distributing the DVD . . . the year’s most acclaimed tour. For once, we’re delighted to say, you can try this at home.

In the six years since the band last toured together, all four members have been busy with their own projects. Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and Mick Mars are all excited to be bringing the music back to the live audience, and enthusiastic about the DVD. Nikki Sixx was quoted as saying:

"This will give our fans a chance to see this f***ing incredible show from the safety of their living rooms, and let them experience the Crüe in concert without ever leaving their couches."

Blogcritics is pleased to give one lucky person a chance to win two tickets to see Motley Crue at the venue of their choice. Five first place winners will win a copy of the Carnival of Sins DVD. Rules for the contest are available. (PDF Link)

To enter E-mail, your name, address, phone number and email address.

Winners will be notified by email or phone by February 1.

An E-card is available with information about the band, tour, and DVD.

After seeing The Crue at Live Eight in Barrie this past summer, I'm a converted fan. Throughout high school, I hated them for their stupid makeup and unearned bravado, their sappy toy-piano ballad, Home Sweet Home grated on my nerves, and all the metalheads loved 'em, while I was listening to Big Country, Saga, Yes, and Pat Travers.

Well, twenty-some years later, while yawning through an interminable Jann Arden set (for all her verbal sass and humour, her music is staid, even funereal) and wondering whether to stick around, out comes spidery, spindly old Mick Mars in a walker, and proceeds to tear the house apart with some wicked effects, noises I've never even heard a guitar make except for Adrian Belew, and the band joins him in Kickstart My Heart, and thirty thousand previously sleeping fans at Barrie's Park Place were on their feet, myself included, yelling, screaming, jumping around, playing air guitar. Then they played Home Sweet home, and I felt like raising a lighter to the sky. Without a pause, they ripped into Dr. Feelgood... Rock N' Roll nirvana! Love those seventh chords, guys...

Vince Neil is perceived by most to be washed up, and in some ways, that may be true, but that July afternoon, this thirty-eight year old was sixteen again, and got them for the first time. Belated devil-sign to you, Vince...

They have earned my immense respect, and boy, can they rawk it old-skool.
