"Who The F--k Is Pete Doherty" Screened By BBC - Comments Page 3

The Duke rages and weeps and sings "F--k forever, if you don't mind..."

Someplace near the end of Who The Fuck Is Pete Doherty, the much-hyped BBC documentary, screened tonight in the UK and, far as I can tell, repeated on BBC3 every night this week, journalist Paul Morley says all about how he's starting to get really worried on account of Pete Doherty's gonna be 27 next year. He starts rhyming off that list of Great Rock Star Casualties, your Kurt Cobain's, your Janis Joplin's, your Jimi Hendrix's, all of em choking on vomit or the brown or a bullet sometime between the ages of 26 and 28.…

I f*cking love pete doherty's songs. He rights such deep lyrics and matches it with the perfect music. Such a talent. Both the libertines and Babyshambles were and are nothing without him, thats why DPT arn't so good as Babyshambles.

Yeah, Vargsmal is a dick, Billy fucking Joel!? Yeah, sure thing... In case you didn't realise, we are all Doherty supporters in here so if you don't like him don't come in. And before you say, "you don't value other peoples opinions while you're trying to tell people to listen to his music before they judge him" we are not being hypocritical, sure you're allowed to dislike him, but fuck off and do it somewhere else yeah?

    Or not.

From what I can see, there's no rules on who can and cannot post, and even if there is, I don't care.

I'll point out how much of a twat he is wherever I please.

I have to agree with the duke
on pretty much all his points. Pete
doherty is this era's syd barret (rip), he's
this era's poet and songwriter who
    actually writes about something, who
puts meaning into his songs and doesnt
do it for money or the fame. The way he
treats his fans in unheard of, i mean wut
other rock star would take fans after a show
to his own house and keep playin for them there?!?
And if you judge him cause of the drugs
well c'mon, show me one rockstar who hasnt had
a problem with drugs or alcohol, you cant. If
people could actually look past the tabloid media
and focus on the mans writing and melody's you'll
realise how truly gifted he is. whether it be
the libertines, babyshambles or the dozens of
acoustics he puts out on his own, pete doherty is
a hero to many people, including me. i really hope that the
people who think he's just another
fuck up will look past their ignorance and see
the truth behind all the shit that the media has
    created

It's not the fact that he does drugs, it's the fact that he publicies it so much, and in addition shoots up unconcious women.

And numerous bands have invited people back to their place after their gigs, I went to one for Skid Row in the 80's, and after the hotel said we had to leave, we all went to Hyde Park with them, all 1200 of us.

    Aug 26, 2006 at 5:46 pm

k first of all, he doesnt publices that he
does drugs, thats the media. get it straight
its not like he goes around telling people
to do drugs and that its ok, ive read, heard, and
seen for a fact when pete reveals the truth
about drugs, that its not something to do
and he's been trying to get out of it for years
and at least he's trying, many artists have
already overdosed on the drugs that he's doin
    at a much younger age.
and second of all, followin a band to another
venue like hyde park (lots of bands play there)
is not the same as goin back to the bands house
and after pete has played for all the ppl in his
house he invited everyone one by one to his
room for a private performance of a song that
    they request

He clearly does. He does it publicy, does infront of fans, and clearly does it infront of people who have cameras; otherwise there wouldn't be numerous pictures of this.

That just shows what a huge ego he has, nothing more.

When the band live in New Jersey, they have little choice, but to initally take us back to the hotel; and after we were kicked out, took us to the nearest place we could all be together. Hyde Park isn't a venue, it's a park. Some bands play there, but it's a park.

  • 83 - killamangiro

    Aug 28, 2006 at 4:44 pm

lots of bands play there, ALOT
and alot of people take drugs
publicly, he's not the only one
but there are rock stars who are
alot more fucked up then he is
and yet they are treated as gods
and he's just thought to be a punk
kid who doesnt know anything and has a big
    ego, he's a fuckin rock star!! he's
supposed to have a big ego, since when
did people start frownin upon that with
musicians, show me one who doesnt have
    a big ego.

  • 84 - Vargsmal

    Aug 29, 2006 at 6:33 am

A fair few bands play there, yes. It's still not a venue, it's a park - which they occasionally turn into a venue.

When people have big ego's and make shit music, that's when people frown upon them. If you're talented, fine, have as big an ego as you want. Not if you're not though.

shit music?? ure fucked up bud
    if you think pete's music
    is shit. Babyshambles is prolly
one of the best things out right
    now, everything else is fuckin
gay rap music, pop, and stuff like
    nickleback, that is shit music

  • 86 - Vargsmal

    Sep 09, 2006 at 12:59 pm

Just because that's also shit music, doesn't change the fact that what he makes is shit.

if you can albion, fuck forever
    beg steal and borrow, are'bours
fuck i can keep goin and goin, if you
call any of those songs shit, then
i really dont get you. tell me, wuts
good music to you, and please dont
    say skid row

  • 88 - Vargsmal

    Sep 16, 2006 at 5:12 am

Wagner, The Doors, Rush, Samuel Barber, Lynyard Skynard, Johnny Cash.

I call all of those songs shit. They're tired, generic, populist and bland rock.

    Sep 16, 2006 at 3:42 pm

    the doors?? the fuckin doors??
    eush, and wagner. wow
k, im gonna stop arguing with you
its hopeless, if you think that stuff
is better than albion, you clearly have
    no taste in music

  • 90 - killamangiro

    Sep 16, 2006 at 3:46 pm

and before you say anything else
    if your judging pete doherty
and yet you listen to the doors
wut about jim morrison??? he was
just as bad as pete, even worse with
    alcohol. and he was considered
a poet?? he had THE BIGGEST ego, and
at least pete is actually a published
poet, his lyrics are a 100000 times better
than anything morrison wrote, and dont
    even try to argue that

  • 91 - Vargsmal

    Sep 18, 2006 at 6:57 pm

Yeah the Doors, one of the most widely recognized and inspiring bands of all time. Although Morrison was a pot head, he could play/write amazing music.

Being a published poet means jack shit, although id does mean he's an even more pretentious cunt than I thought he was before.

True, because how good a lyric is isn't opinion, it's fact. [Edited]

the doors werent inspiring at all
they are the most overrated band in
    rock n roll history, people
compare them to zeppelin, and floyd
but in all honestly they dont even come close
    to any of those

and being a poet gives him lyrics that
only truly talented people could write, he
went traveled the world when he was 15 because
of the stuff that he wrote. he is a lyrical
genius. and you say rush is better?
please, do us all a favor and fuck off. go
listen to the doors, and rush and wutever other
gay bands you named, but dont come in here
bashin babyshambles or doherty just cause you
dont like them. you dont have to like him to
realise that the man is talented. and if you
cant see that, then im afraid there's nothing i
can say to change ure way of thinkin

fuck you and have a nice day

In 50 years time, when the world looks back on music, The Doors will be up there as one of the greatest bands of all time. Pete Dohertys retarded attempts at music will be sniggered at and forgotten.

I think you're still confusing opinion with fact. Argue with the mentally dispositioned until you're smart enough to use proper spelling, grammar, oh and actually form rational sensical arguments other than :'if you don't like Doherty, you're gay'.

Peter Doherty fans are almost as persicuted as he himself is. He is a top song writer, and an icon , some cannot appreciate this no matter how much you try and convince them of his virtues.

Non fans need to give his songs a chance, ignore the tabloids, read his mothers book and chill out, and then if you don't like it, then fine, but I agree that people just jump to conclusions about the man, and believe everything they read in the tabloids, he may not be a saint, but who the hell is in this world!?

Some get him, some don't, I do, you do and millions of others do too.

Sit right down if you're a friend
You know there ain't too many left of them
You said I want love, I want it all...

wantsomelyrics - i'm feeling especially helpful today, although the comments editors may well scream at the thought of someone posting the entire lyrics in here. i do hope this is ok.

    Cyclops
(as recorded by The Libertines, there's no credit given but we can assume it's one of Pete's)

What you try to do to me?
It seems to come so naturally
    How you annoy me
    How you destroy me
And everywhere I'm walking like a cyclone
    But don't mind me
How's it fair, I'm a magnet for psychos
And pretty riddles keen on me
    You can lightly sling
Into my open heavy loving heart
    First touch and kissy kissy

    Slash-back razor days
    The boys not to behave
    Oh they're like hoodlums

    Sick of themselves
    And sick of their slums
    Give everybody a gun
And put it on the television

That's Reality TV, I'd pay to see
Not lobotomized celebrities who wanna be
    Wanna be the ...
Wow, money's the church, fame is the steeple
Everyone on the telly indoctrinate the people
    Now I say though...

What you try to do to me?
It seems to come so naturally
    How you annoy me
    How you destroy me

And everywhere I'm walking like a cyclone
    But don't mind me
... and chased by a cyclops
    ... no ships I see

I owe more than I know to faces
Who never show the places off the hood
    It's understood and obvious tomorrow
    Free bags full of sorrow
    First touch and kissy kissy

    Slash-back razor days
    The boys not to behave

Everywhere I'm walking like a cyclone
    But don't mind me
It's not fair, I'm a magnet for psychos
And pretty little riddles keen on me
    You can lightly sling
Into my open heavy loving heart
First touch and here you are

    Where they put the Cyclops
That's where they put the Cyclops
That's where they put the Cyclops

What you try to do to me?
What you try to do to me?
    You make me happy
