Pillar - Where do we go from here
Several people on Amazon listed this album as their favorite Christian metal disc so of course I had to check it out. Not because I am born again, it's just that I've discovered that these Christian dudes can seriously rock. I can't relate to death metal and a lot of that "I hate my life and my dad" crap that is circulating these days, so this stuff is right up my alley. Without singing to or about Jesus in every song these guys keep the good vibes flowing and still rock out big time. If you like Linkin Park, Godsmack or Nu Metal in general you won't be disappointed. Next in line to "Day of Fire" this would have to be one of my top five favorite Christian rock discoveries.
Tori Amos - The Beekeeper
Not sure about this one yet. Tori took a cool turn a few years back and I really got into her vibe again but she is back to her old tricks and it just seems tired to me. Check it out if you are a fan but don't expect anything new... and as usual expect to wonder what the hell she is talking about.
Pink Cream 69 - Thunderdome
Stupid name, cool band. This is a a love-em or hate-em disc for sure. I would say this group is like classic Winger, Hurricane and Joe Lynn Turner rolled into one highly produced, big budget, bombastic wall-o-sound, big guitar, big flashing boobs, blood, sweat and tears throw back to 80's/early 90's sex, drugs and rock and friggin' roll! If you're a fan of this type of music check out this band, just try to ignore the bands stupid name. Check out "Gods come together"... Classic!!
Bryan Adams - Room Service
This is a fan album for sure. Good stuff if you like Bryan Adams (which I do). I've enjoyed this disk but it is standard BA so you just can't go wrong.
3 Doors Down - Seventeen Days
As it says on their website, 3DD is one of the most popular and consistently successful rock bands in recent history. This disc is taking longer to digest than I had thought but it's growing on me in a good way. It's a great album actually but lyrically it's much deeper and darker than their previous efforts. I've enjoyed the moody vibe of their last album and this one is more of that vibe as Brad Arnold continues to delve into life's never ending trials and issues. I'm sorry though, I just love these guys for no other reason than they are just plain ol' southern nice guys... and damn do they know how to write great music. I'm sure you'll be getting this one if you've enjoyed their past efforts. Check out "Be Somebody" and "The Real Life".
