If you're in the Tribeca, New York area and looking for the perfect holiday gifts for your audiophile friend or loved one, you should check out the ARChive of Contemporary Music's Holiday Record and CD sale.

A not-for-profit archive and research center, the ARChive collects, preserves and provides information on popular music dated back to 1950. Two copies of every released American recording are preserved; additional copies obtained by the ARC are sold at sales like this one. The Sneaky Santa Sale begins December 8 and runs through December 16 and will be located at their ground floor offices on 54 White St. in Tribeca, New York.

The doors will open at 11:00 am daily and will remain so until 6:00 pm. ARChive members will be treated to a cocktail party on Thursday, December 6 and have a chance to shop before the general public.

Sale items, which are new, mostly pop and rock CDs, cassettes, and collectable LPs, are priced well below book value. Hundreds of CDs are priced at $1.00 to $5.00 each, while cassettes are $1.00 each or 12 for $10.00. Just released or hot CDs are $5.00 - $10.00. An extra special treat are the boxes containing 125 pop, soundtrack, or classical LPs being sold for only $5.00 each.

In addition, there are Christmas records, film and Broadway soundtracks (LPs and CD), signed records, classical LPs, vintage punk, new wave and classic rock LPs, music books, videos, and 7" singles also available.

    Between Bruce and Neil tickets (not to mention a certain Vegas trip), I'm already too broke to risk total bankruptcy by checking this out...
