New Vines Album Ready. The Australian band finished its next album, which is due next summer. The album is untitled. The band battled possible breakup in 2004 dealing with such problems as onstage temper tantrums from frontman Craig Nicholls.
Britain’s Favorite Song is Lennon’s "Imagine." In a poll conducted by Virgin Radio, John Lennon’s "Imagine" was voted number one. 7,000 listeners voted. The top five was rounded out by "Hey Jude" and "Let it Be," by The Beatles, "One," by U2, and "Angels," by Robbie Williams.
The Beatles’ Apple label to sue EMI. The label is suing over unpaid royalties on The Beatles’ record sales. Apple alleges that EMI owes approximately $53 million after auditing The Beatles’ contract.
Mary J. Blige tops chart. Blige, with her Christmas week release, tops Soundscan with her biggest week ever selling 727,000 copies of The Breakthrough. This is more than double her prior best. This is Blige’s third No. 1 release in Billboard’s Top 200.
