Vanity Project Debut Release for Flagship Recordings

The long awaited self titled The Vanity Project will be hitting stores June 21 via Flagship Recordings and Fontana. This release teams Barenaked Ladies’ lead singer Steven Page with songwriter, Stephen Duffy.

The two have worked together previously on the songs “Jane,” “Alternate Girlfriend,” and “Call and Answer,” and co-wrote eleven of the twelve songs for this release. The remaining song, “So. Cal,” was written by Page alone.

The Vanity Project is the debut release for the fledgling label, Flagship Recordings. The company, founded by industry veteran Marc Nathan, recently teamed with the Fontana to distribute this as well as three other albums. The self titled Brett Dennen, Love is the Greatest Revenge/Tremolo, and My Favorite Revolution/Eugene Edwards are all slated to hit stores this year.

i've heard a few tracks from this album and it is going to be well worth the money.

stephen duffy is a songwriting marvel. he helped craft the songs on our own record (Brittlestar, 'Waiting').

duffy and page together create brilliantly twisted lullabies.

Hey, thanks for the ink... by the way, it's Marc Nathan, and you forgot the Brett Dennen album (which actually comes out on July 12th,) and Eugene Edwards' album is "My Favorite Revolution."

    Cheers!

The Vanity Project album is great! I posted a video of the live in store performance Steven Page did at Seattle's Easy Street Records. Awesome performance with a great combination of BNL songs and new stuff from The Vanity Project.

    Jake,

I have the album now and can officially say it is wonderful!

We also attended an appearance/signing just last night at Borders in Ann Arbor MI. I should have a review of the event with pictures later today.
