Did you have a favorite personal performance?
Yeah, I did. I really liked "God Bless the USA" and "Anyway." I really loved "Faithfully" - it was towards the beginning - if I hadn't been sick. But those three were my favorites.
Are you primarily a country music fan?
I'm definitely at heart into country music. I do like and listen to different artists. I listen to all kinds of stuff. But yeah, there's music that gets you going - other than what you listen to. Most people don't just listen to one thing and that's it.
Did your focus on country music make it harder on the show when you were picking your songs to do?
It was definitely harder, just because it was totally not my genre. You know, I was completely out of my zone. I wasn't singing country. I was singing '80s and Beatles, and I was just like, 'This isn't me, I don't know how to do this stuff.' So it was definitely different. It was very good experience to have to learn the song and put it in a minute and thirty seconds, the different genres and stuff. It was different.
Kristy Lee Cook had no trouble staying in her “zone” for the live show. She performed two upbeat country numbers as well as “God Bless The USA” with all the bravado of the country star she hopes to become.
Next week in the final part of the series: Runner-up David Archuleta discusses his career plans, his music and his thoughts on winner David Cook.
