Ugliest Concert Ever: Joe Jackson & Todd Rundgren Join Forces

Concert promoters warn: Due to the disturbing nature of the show, children will not be admitted.
Written by Dylan JamesonPOUGHKEEPSIE, NY (PoopyCaca.com) - In what may be the ugliest pairing of musicians in decades, Joe Jackson and Todd Rundgren have launched a tour on the unsuspecting public. The Jackson-Rundgren show, heading to the Bardavon Theater in Poughkeepsie, NY, this month, features songs some people may actually still remember, such as Jackson’s “Steppin Out”, “Breaking Us In Two,” and “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” and Rundgren’s “Hello It’s Me” and “Bang On The Drum All Day.” The pair will also veer into lesser-known material, which includes everything else they’ve ever done. But more than the music, this tour will long be remembered for the sheer hideousness of the performers as they converge in a freak show of pop obscurity.“I can’t recall a more monstrous pairing of musicians,” Rolling Stone music critic Chet Sandstrom said. “Except maybe for the time I walked in on Janis Joplin and ‘Mama’ Cass Elliott going at it in a dressing room before a concert in Dayton in 1970 – that was unspeakable.”

Janis & Cass: Unspeakable.

hmm, good point, though I wouldn't call Janis "ugly" so much as rode hard and put away wet. And Cass wasn't so much ugly as "really damn fat"

Todd does not care if you think he's ugly; he's a talented musician who keeps producing innovative and bold music. It's all in your point of view.

ugly is in the mind of the beholder...as is beauty, like the beautiful music this team is currently creating about the earth.

Can I go if I promise to close my eyes?

I like both of their catalogs, but last I heard Rundgren doesn't actually play songs that his fans like - that would be too much like...oh I don't know, giving you your money's worth.

On the ugly subject, this season's American Idol is a carnivale of ugliness. Also look at Strapping Young Lad this metal band who are anything but strapping.

you want pretty go to a Backstreet Boyz concert. you want quality, timeliess muscic, check out todd & joe. Your mean-spirited and mis-guided comments remind me of what Frank Zappa once said: "The only reason the critics like Elvis Costello is because so many of them look like him."

Michael Watt: Actually, it was David Lee Roth who said that.

The rest of youse guys: It is an (admittedly feeble) attempt at humor. Lighten up.

Chip--perhaps you've missed that portrait of young, innocent, "girl next door" loveliness, Carrie Underwood. She is way hot.

Wait a minute. I'm still confused about the "ugly" description. Todd has always been physically fascinating, not to mention the beautiful brain. Joe Jackson has always been cool and cute. Could you be practicing a little ageism here? Joe Jackson wrote and recorded everyone's favorite song, "Is She Really Going Out With Him?". Remember the intro? Immediately identifiable. Todd has written some amazingly beatiful songs. Just because you've never heard them only means that it is not to your taste. They don't play to the mainstream, but to people who can appreciate their efforts.

Todd's different looking but in a "physically fascinating" way as someone above put it. Joe looks like an albino these days, poor guy.

Lemmy isn't really ugly, just excessively burly and a bit old. Pete Townshend used to be pretty nasty looking, but over time it's as if his face sorted itself out and he looked fine starting sometime in the 70s, maybe even late 60s. Shane McGowan has the shittiest teeth in rock no question. Don't see anything ugly about Gary Moore.

Rock people should be ugly. Ugly but sexy, make people feel good about themselves, open minds. Then maybe I could get some pussy.

I love the comment policy - personal attacks are NOT allowed , unless you're insulting some of the best musician's of the 20th century . Kidding or not , Todd is an unbelievable talent , Joe is no slouch , and Gary Moore is the greatest guitarist I've ever HEARD , and that's the point , HEARD . It's called music , not photography . You want to know where all the good music is ? These days they don't get signed and if they do they don't get developed. So we get an endless string of Britney Spears' and @#$%^& Wahlberg brothers and Justin Beibers' . In the 70's they made their singles and did their movie of the week and went away . And now they have endless careers while simple minded people insult musical icons . In the name of Bill Hicks somebody save us . Now there was a comedian .

I find Todd Rundgren to be quite attractive, especially now that he's older and not so thin. There's something both manly and sensitive about him, not to mention his larger than life talent and intellect...what more could you ask for?
