Turks and Caicos Music and Cultural Festival This Summer

The Turks and Caicos Second Annual Music & Cultural Festival is scheduled for July 25-August 1, 2005 on the not-ugly isle of Providenciales. Confirmed artists scheduled to perform include reggae dancehall pop star Shaggy, chart-topping R&B vocalist Ashanti, soul singer Jeffrey Osborne, legendary voice of lovers reggae Gregory Isaacs, number one Haitian dance band Tabou Combo, gospel/disco queen Candi Staton, contemporary gospel crooner BeBe Winans, as well as some of the Turks and Caicos' top local artists.

The main stage concert performances will take place at Turtle Cove Marina, this year's festival village. The event will showcase the best of what the Turks and Caicos Islands have to offer: local talent, Miss Turks & Caicos beauty pageants, regattas, killer beaches, diving, friendly local types.

The Turks and Caicos Islands are situated 575 miles (or 75 minutes) southeast of Miami. Covering 193 square miles of the Atlantic Ocean, the Turks and Caicos Islands has the third largest coral reef system and among the best tropical beaches in the world, making it a premier beach, diving and snorkelling destination - 60% of tourists are repeat visitors.

BET Jazz will air a Turks and Caicos Music & Cultural Festival 2005 Preview Show, which will highlight many of the artists scheduled to perform and activities that festival visitors can expect to enjoy, on the following dates and times (EST): Mondays, May 9 and June 13 at 8am, 4pm, and 10pm; Sundays, May 14, June 18 and July 9 at 12pm, 8pm, and 4am; and Wednesday, July 13 at 12pm, 8pm, and 1am.

Three and four-night vacation packages are available from New York, NY; Boston, MA; Philadelphia, PA; Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; Charlotte, NC; Providence, RI and Manchester, NH.

    Eric,

The link via the Turks & Caicos Festival site appeared to be the same. If I am correct, it was not working there either. Thank you for the personal reply. Not sure if you visited any of the sites I listed but we are avid supporters of SHAGGY's work. Some of us know fisrt hand (me... 5, 6, 7... I've lost count on concerts I've attended) about what the Turks & Caicaos Island people will experience. They will be in for a HOT, HOT time. And hopefully the new album due June 14 - 17th will have loads of presentable music and lots of hype in time for the festival.

BTW - are you attending the concert/Festival? Is this site in Turks & Caicos? I have no clue about this Island at all. I am more globally knowledged thanks to SHAGGY's tours, LAUGHS!!

HI Lady Di and thanks for the additional information. I have always liked Shaggy quite a bit and have no doubt he will rock this festival!

No, I am in the very unglamorous location of Ohio, although we have writers literally all over the world. None on these islands, though.

    Eric,

Ok, have a family member in Youngstown and one of our most avid supporters is from Painesville. Anyhow, we need to get some one there for this festival. I see what looks to be a very impressive line-up with one of my all time favs, BeBe Winans. Thanks for all your time & effort.

BTW - Be sure to pick up that new SHAGGY album and bring us a report card on it, SMILES! Have a great day!!

Lady Di back to get an update on the concert. I know it just closed but was curious to know if any one attended had posted about it. He was here in Baltimore, Maryland on the 24th of July. Check SHAGGY's Studio.com for slammin' photos. The concert was as usual, HOT!!

About the album, new release date - September 20th. Get on over to SHAGGY Online.com to see the video feat. G-Unit's Olivia on a club beat entitled 'Wild 2Nite'. It's the first tune off the upcomig album and on a new label - Geffen Records. He'll be one Jay Leno's Tonight Show soon too.
