Tritt called the Dixie's comment in London a "cheap shot" He suggested that if they really meant their apology they would go on a USO tour. He also calls for Americans to boycott entertainers with whom they disagree.

Boycott-schmoycott. Boycotts are the lamest things I've ever heard of. Like poems about angels and books about physically abused boys overcoming the odds. Perhaps if Americans listened to dissenting opinions instead of completely dismissing them, we would all become slightly smarter and more enlightened individuals instead of the narrow-minded, blindly-following-the-leader bunch of droolers that we've become.

Who gives a damn what the Jane Seymour of the rhinestone set sez anyhoo? I think I'll go out and buy all his albums just so I can refuse to listen to them. That'll show him.
Look, can't we have a moratorium on all this Dixie Chick bashing, here at least? It's getting tired. There is a war about to start, y'know. The world may never be the same again so use these last few hours of peace wisely.....

N, I didn't think it was about bashing. There has been about equal pro and con here. My main post on the subject was to point out the organized campaigns going on in all directions.
I think she was a victim of very unfortunate timing - in addition to organized campaigns - she said what she said at just the wrong time, as you said, on the verge of war.
I think talking about things like this is an oblique way to address the much more difficult subjects at hand.

When is the right time to speak out against the war? When it is long gone and millions are dead?
5 - san
Amen. Maybe we should all shut up until AFTER the war so it can be prosecuted without all this annoying contrary opinion.

uhm, Travis, your agent just called, and this press release isn't going to do it either. Let's face it, just cut a decent record, and maybe you can get a hit. Though that Dixie Chicks strategy of getting your CDs crushed might work, they can't return crushed discs.
After all, a sale is a sale.

Travis Twitt is redneck a-hole, but oh, do I love the hairdo! Is Charlton Heston still his president?
8 - diane
THE CHICK MAY BE ASHAMED OF OUR PRESIDENT BUT I'M ASHAMED OF BEING A DIXIE CHICK FAN THAT IS X FAN THEY SHOULD BE SUPPORTING OUR MEN AND WOMEN THEY ARE THE REASON THAT SHE CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT AND NO THAT SHE WILL WAKE UP TOMORROW TO A FREE COUNTRY

Being a Canadian fan of the Dixie Chicks, I think Natalie has every right to voice her opinion. George W. Bush is leading a war that is killing the innocent and undeserving people in Iraq. That's enough for me to think that he is a murderer...no matter what state he is from.
Good for you Natalie for standing up for what you believe in!

I think that the Dixie Chicks should have just kept their big mouths shut. How could they had said that knowing that our troops where other there and could loose their lives. I will not buy and more of their CD's or even go to any of their concerts, I feel that they have alot of growing up to do. They should go over there and fight the war and see how our troops feel.
11 - Alan
The Chicks are free to say how they feel and I have the right to not listen to them, buy their cd's or listen to stations that broadcast their music. They do not have the same ideas and feelings that most of their former fans do. In a way they have cheated us and made millions from the same people they despise. Cya Chicks.

I have never bought a dixie chick cd have thought about it but now would never spend a penny on thier cds or pay to see them in concert. knowing several marines that are over thier risking thier lives to save ours I cant believe anyone who has a following of people that used to respect them would come out publicly and state something like this. I agree with boycotting them.

I'd like to see Natalie Maines enlist in the Armed Forces then I might believe her apology. She's just scared her big fat bank account might have a dip because she shot her stupid mouth off without thinking. Travis-You are the man. God bless you. What ever happened to American pride.

No matter what your opinion at this point after the war has begun, we need to support our troops, family & peers. General comments against war & your reasons for these thoughts is fine (we are a FREE country apart from those we are trying to fight for), but directly attacking our President, an elected official is uncalled for. Anti-war protesters have a voice & could have made themselves heard BEFORE it all began & contacted their congressman & legislators. Why do they wait until the point of no return?
Get off your high horses & down on your knees to PRAY for the safe & swift return of our forces & a better world for those overseas. May GOD be with you!!!!!!

Good-bye Earl? Good-bye Dixie chicks! We are no longer fans. There is a reason you have a big mouth, Save it for the bed-room!
16 - Kristie
Way to go Travis!!! I love their music but I can live without it after this recent incident. How come Earl could die but Sadaam can't? Maybe the Chicks and all these other whiny assed anti-war should go spend some time with Sadaam and see how they feel then. Apparently they didn't know anyone from 9-11. The victims' survivors should be asked about how they feel on the anti-terrorism war. Thank God for our President! Finally a president with morals. I am proud of him. My husband is overseas right now along with many others that we know and love. They miss their families but they go with honor and dignity to defend this country that we love. If we do nothing we will continue to be attacked. Thousands were killed on 9-11 before we went to war. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THOSE WHO PROTECT IT!!

I read an e-mail from a co-worker today about an American Solder that wrote a letter to the Dixie Chicks in regards to the comment that was made, and I just have to say that, he is right in everyway. Many musicians make millions and millions of dollars a year with their songs about solders and war, including the Dixie Chicks, and it is very sad that we as the public buy their music and support them when they venture off the other countries living the high life and spending money that we contribute to them on God knows what kind-of drugs or other substances. There is so much to say due to the fact that what was said was wrong and to bad mouth their own country is very sad. IF they hate our president so much then go away, live somewhere and spare us of your whinning voices about things and people you don't even support or believe in. Thank You I feel better now.
GOD BLESS ALL OUR OUR TROOPS IN IRAQ AND ME AND MY FAMILY ARE PRAYING EVERYDAY FOR ALL THE FAMILIES WITH LOVED ONES OVER SEAS.

I do not support the unelected, lying, draft doger, who deserted our armed forces and engaged in insider trading. (I think that puts him ahead of Clinton). I do not support the direction that this country is going, as that direction is determined by an unelected, draft dodging, lying, deserter and corporate criminal. I support what this country stands for (in the absence of the "leadership" of an unelected, draft doging, lying, deserter and corporate criminal). I am a veteran and a patriot. Conservatives do not own the flag. Republicans don't have the right to define "patriotism".
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
Theodore Roosevelt, 1918 (During WWI)
Go Natalie (I always thought that she was hot, but now I see that she's smart, too!)

The dixie Chicks are free to speak. We are free to buy. It must be difficult for an artist who spends their cognitive life arranging chords and mixing song to switch to geopolitics with any sense of seriousness. Just because they sing well does not make them smart about war, the situation in Iraq, the suffering that has gone on there, the threat to the region, the threat to us,the amount of money an unchecked Hussein could use to buy weapons off the shelf and finally the hope that a free Iraq might solve some of the instability in the region. We are not asking her to sacrifice and serve. It would be "class" if the group would stick to what they do and not ridicule a President who has only our best interest at heart. If not, I could suggest many graduate programs, on a geopolitical level, that they all could attend to perhaps educate them on the 'real" world. Remember, they are just people that can sing well...they know little or nothing about issues outside of their realm. You wouldn't pay money to hear me sing...why worry about what a performer or an actor says???

I have the right NOT to buy music or products from people I disagree with. THe liberals have used this tactic for years and scream when it is used against one of their causes. Why??? -- Because when real Americans boycott ... it works :-)

Now we know that Natalie is against the war. So which other entertainer (music or movie) is against the war? We buy music & see movies wich make them richer & we dont even know how they stand on anything. Pepsi wont but "under God" on there cans. Tom Hanks wont say "under God" for fear that he will offend someone. God is the reason we are all here. The soldier is the reason we live in freedom. GOD BLESS AMERICA & OUR TROOPS.

Talk about outrageous, Dixie Chicks are now down 42% in record sales because of Natalie Maines big mouth...

I would like to have an address to send my CD's back to the dixie chicks. Does anyone know where to send them?

I thought that when the Dixie Chicks sang about "wide open spaces" they were singing about the vast amount of beautiful land that this country has to offer....but now I realize I was wrong - it's that "wide open space" between their ears where the rest of us have a brain.

j` in this country is quite free to voice their opinion on this hotly debated topic. I encourage our entertainment elite to continue voicing their opinions. The rest of us will voice our support, or lack thereof, with our pocketbooks. That is OUR right in a free society. I think the end result will be interesting to say the least.
There are some who contend that punishing these folks for voicing their opinions is unfair or censorship. For you I say dry your eyes, blow your nose, and get back to reality. This is a free market economy. If I don't like a product or manufacturer I don't buy the product. It's that simple.
