Brandon Jones runs a fine online music store called IndieVisionMusic. He's also the muscle behind this release on Tooth and Nail Records, a 20 track collection of glistening clean punk rock anthems.
The production of the entire CD is top notch. Most every song has that guitar heavy sound that's popular these days. Every vocal track is washed shiney (save for The Culprits and Dogwood) and fits well with the overall sound of the CD.
To me compilation CD's are a tough sell. They usually turn into a varied bunch of mismatched songs that hope to appeal to a broad base of people and hopefully inspire the listener to check out a new band and maybe buy a CD. This comp might be best used to get you home late at night from a show (it's over an hour in length) and at least inspire some conversation to keep you awake. You'll find your typical pop punk fare (Makeshift3, Too Bad Eugene, The Rock Band), hardcore punk (Beauty To Ashes, The Culprits), and some rock stuff (Anberlin, Slow Coming Day, Custom Deluxe). It's a decent mix of material which, when taken at face value, did it's job. I'm now intrigued as to what Anberlin sounds like on a full CD. Mission accomplished.
For $8 you can't go wrong. Many of these songs could easily find themselves onto your next mix-CD or on your iPod. If you like the whole pop punk thing or just need a good hours worth of music to get you through the night be sure to stop by Indievisionmusic.com and pick it up.
