Huffington Post attacks Toby Keith.
It’s pretty sad when someone is attacking someone as honorable as Toby Keith, calling him pro-lynching and a flat out racist. This is the guy who sings about how great American soldiers are and visits the Middle East to sing for our troops. …

It's sad when people live in the past.

Natalie bad mouthed her fans and that's why they left.
A moment ago she was simply bad-mouthing Toby Keith. Now it's her fans? I'm confused.
Anyway, I'm guessing that if they did leave they didn't go all that far, since the Dixie Chicks' last album charted at #1.
For myself, I still can't forget those images of parents watching their kids smash Dixie Chicks CDs under their shoes for saying A Bad Thing about St Bush, as they loudly boasted that America was the freest country on Earth.

The point is, it's the freest country which means they had the right to do it too. I never liked Bush that much either but why go to another country and say it, why not say it here, that's what I think bothered a lot of people. Nobody believed in that war. Toby never believed in the Iraq war either. His song was about getting the people responsible for 911 and that wasn't Iraq.
I'm not a big Chicks fan but do like some of their music. But it's a 2 way street and what goes around, comes around which is what happened. She opened her mouth and couldn't take what she should have known what she was going to get. Don't say something if you can't take the consequences that go along with it.
I'm glad things are working out for them, I do wish there would have been the commercial but there isn't because they couldn't get times together to do it.

Riiiight...it bothered people where she said it. C'mon!

Maines added, "Besides, now that I'm probably richer than God, maybe he should come to me!
She deserves what she gets. I have no sympathy for her at all. I didn't know she thought she was above GOD.

You're right, Jean. God has a lot more money than any o' them god-dang Dixie Sluts.

Hey Maddy, sorry I went off on a tangent like that but these people don't know Toby as a person, they don't like his music so they don't like the man. They are perfect, they don't make mistakes. They have never said something that someone else takes the wrong way, or maybe says something that doesn't come out the way it should and sounds stupid. But that's okay, I have a lot of respect for Toby for what he does too, just let them talk, sooner or later they will be talking to themselves. Good post by the way, keep on, just let the critics say what they want, it doesn't bother Toby and it sure hasn't hurt him. So we're all good.

Absolutely ridiculous..... When did justice and racism become the same thing. Toby Keith said nothing that could even be considered remotely racist in "Beer for my Horses." Unless patriotism has gone down the toilet with the rest of this country's good qualities. If every american were more like Toby we would be well on our way back to the original track our founding fathers left for us to follow....a strong, but friendly country where a man could trust another man. And as for the person who commented before I did....Toby keith doesn't lack intelect, he lacks conformity to your snobby speach patterns.

As I noted before, at the least, the lyrics seem to advocate vigilantism and lynching. Both illegal.
Putting aside the question of 'racism' and the bloody history of vigilantism in the service of racism, one must consider the legitimacy of vigilantism and lynching.
First of all, vigilantism for any purpose is easily bent to the purposes of the rich and powerful. It seems to be impossible for the Pure Of Heart to execute a lynching without regard to considerations of personal gain and service to their masters.
Second, vigilante law is usually vengeance, and vengeance is a poor counterfeit of justice.
Third, going outside the law is a declaration of war on the law. It is terrorism. That is what the 9/11 killers were doing. Is anyone here supporting terrorism?
What the heck does patriotism have to do with it?
If I declared it unpatriotic to advocate vigilantism, would you accept my statement? Suppose I argue that the Founders would have condemned vigilantism, would you then condemn Keith?

Wow I'm a teenager & sitting here reading this, some, not all, but some of you sound like elementary school kids. Toby Keith is a very talented gentleman. In my book, any man who on his tour will take time to go & give our troops a concert is very honorable. Honestly his "patriotic" songs, as some of you call them are true, I mean for lack of better words, after 9/11 we did put a boot up Afghainstain's(sp?) & Iraq's ass. Natalie is a fine one to talk about ignorant(sp?) does anyone remember her tasteless song "Earls gotta die"? So to some my opinion won't mean much, but it's mine & no one can change that!
