High turn out for free Rolling Stones gig
An estimated one million people turned out for a free show put on by The Rolling Stones last Saturday. The show was held on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach. Although some 250 people were treated for drunkenness, exhaustion and other problems there were no major problems at the show. The Rio de Janeiro police force deployed more than 6,000 officers as crowd control for the massive event. The Stones played for about two hours and their set covered their entire career.
Mission of Burma are set to release a third studio album. The follow up to 2004's OnOffOn is called The Oblierati and is due out on May 23rd. This will be their first release on Matador. Earlier this month the band launched a subscription series that will include eight songs from the new CD as CD singles and 12-inches that will be sent one at a time weekly prior to the release of the full album. The 500 subscriptions that were made available sold out in two days.
Google Desktop may present security risk
Google Desktop 3, that was unveiled earlier in this month, may present a security risk for businesses. With the software, users can search across multiple computers for a file. This is made possible by copied of files being stored on Google’s servers for up to thirty days. The risk is that the transportation of files outside of the company. Google recognizes the risk but says that Desktop 3 is no greater a security risk than e-mail.
