The Friday Morning Listen

Part of: Friday Morning Listen

Ditch Diggin' - Southern Culture On The Skids.

Things have been too danged serious around here. The long weekend needs to be jumpstarted with "Too Much Pork For Just One Fork", "Put Your Teeth Up On the Window Sill" and "The Great Atomic Power".

Check this band out live if you get a chance. They're too much fun.

LOve SCOTS, and this CD rocks, my favorite song, though, is "Liquored Up and Lacquered Down" from Miss Congeniality soundtrack

Love these guys for their surfabilly sound and pure lyrical goofiness. For me, the band's peak is Dirt Track Date, though all of their releases have their pleasures. (Don't think that their cover of "Great Atomic Power" is a patch on the Louvin Bros. original, however, or even Uncle Tupelo's remake.) I'd love to see SCotS live. . .

Hey, Eric, is "Liquored Up" the same version that's included on the band's TVT release of the same name?

the live show is beyond too much fun (if that's even possible).

highlights of the show i saw in boston a few years back:

    - chunks of kfc being tossed into the crowd during "8 Piece Box"

    - Mary Huff's enormous bouffant

    - their cover of "House Of Bamboo" as the close of the show approached.
