Red Headed Stranger - Willie Nelson
This is a an early Friday two-fer as I'm headed off to New York state this evening so as to be in position (Oneonta, NY) for tomorrow evening's Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson show in Cooperstown. The concert is being held at Doubleday Field and is part of Dylan & Nelson's summer tour of minor league ballparks.
I told a friend about the show and he wondered if two out of key voices would tend to cancel each other out. Hmmm...we'll see. I'm thinkin' this could be a great show. I saw Dylan last summer and it was nothing short of spectacular (and that was with no acoustic tunes.) Never had a chance to see Willie before, so this seems just about perfect.

have fun Mark, that should be something! I've seen them both a few times and Willie is more consistent than Bob, who is a moody, prickly son of a bitch. If they inspire each other it could be great.

enjoy yourself man. Dylan played belfast last month but i wasn't able to go. The bootleg recording i got goes someway to ensuring i feel ridiculous for missing it.

We'll be seeing them on Saturday. I've heard stuff recently about Dylan being inconsistent too, and I mentioned it at the dinner table the other night (kind of hoping out loud that it wasn't going to suck altogether) and my son said, "Who cares? It's Dylan!". And I guess that's true enough. Have fun, Mark!

ya know, i do remember hearing about Dylan's inconsistent live dates back in the late 70's and 80's.
also, i do remember seeing him on a Grammy telecast doing a bizarre and tuneless Masters Of War (if you caught the performance, you got to see Paul Shaffer shrugging his shoulders at, i think, Carol King...as if to say "what the hell??")
so when i got a chance to see him last year i wasn't expecting all that much.
well, he came blasting outa the game with Tombstone Blues and never slowed down until ending with Tangled Up In Blue.
it was pretty fine.
