Wednesday evening I stopped by one of my local music mini-chains (Newbury Comics) and picked this one up.
Big deal, eh? Me and gawd knows how many other people did the same.
But I also had to purchase the original Let It Be. Never owned it. No vinyl, no 8-track, no cassette, no CD. Nothin'. I'm not even sure why. Just never got around to it. But given how the Beatles were basically everywhere, I am familiar with all of the music (though I'm not weighed down by the song order, the changes on the new release don't bother me...but I sure can sympathize).
While some longtime fans are bothered by the history being rewritten, I'm just grooving on the starkness of the un-Spectorized tunes. Never liked the orchestration on "The Long And Winding Road" or "Let It Be". And "Across The Universe", with that effect removed from John's voice (Spector extras gone here too) is, to me, more powerful than the original.

You know what's really great? You can really hear the GUITARS now. I wasn't particularly phased by the song order, I kind of miss the talking, I miss the strings not at all, and I love the sound of the GUITARS.
I'm not too familiar with this Phil Spector character, but I'm startin' to take a real dislike to him.

A better title than Naked would have been Ex-Spectorated.

i'd have to say that the title is kinda stupid.
and "Ex-Spectorated" is pretty funny.

I can't stand the artwork. It's cheap, looks like a high-quality bootleg. But the sound quality is excellent, just beautiful. I don't think it replaces the original Let It Be, just supplements it. I still haven't quite decided if I like the original or this more. Neither is my favorite Beatles release, but Naked gives me an opportunity to look at both it and the original in a new light.

Should I buy the new one and then burn a copy of the old one from my cousin, or buy a copy of the old one, and then burn a copy of the new one from my cousin, or burn a copy of them both from my cousin (he owes me, I just hit him up with the Darkness and both of Paul Westerberg's new ones), and use the money I save to buy the new Korn?

buy the new one on vinyl...the old one at a used cd shop.
as far as Korn goes.....open the lid of your toilet, stick your head in just far enough to get that nice reverby sound (careful, don't get your hair wet)...and then scream as loud as you can!
