A couple of years ago, L'Hiver played a show at our local bookstore. They were on the bill with several local artists, including Peterborough's Redwing Blackbird. I remember that we had to wait for L'Hiver to show up as they were driving across from New York through Vermont and New Hampshire...in a snowstorm.
It was totally worth the wait. We were so enamored of their unassuming personalities and music. I'd try to describe it but this bit from their MySpace just about sums it up: "In the winter of 2004 2 Matts, a Leslie and a Cheryl decided it would be funny to write "french music" using toy accordions, a glockenspiel, acoustic guitar, clarinet, bass, random percussion and sometimes our terribly quiet voices."
I don't know if they're around anymore, but I take great joy in ending up with their music today...considering as how it's so incredibly low-tech as compared with my initial selection concept.
Maybe I'll try the random Pandora thing again after I've gotten my organizational act together. Just don't hold your breath.
