All these songs were great..
And Fly like a bird was actually a hit because she didn't release it as an actual Single;) but it still had chart succes

Hey Kev,
3 Mariah concerts were cancelled in the states even before she started the tour and they did mention that it was because of poor tickets sales.
And the reason why nobody makes fun of Aretha because of her weight is because she doesn't pretend to have a slim shape by using photoshop and by wearing outfits that don't fit her.

There were several more than 3 shows cancelled. Some of the extra cancelled shows weren't announced yet. For example, there were 3 shows originally scheduled for MSG in NYC, but after one barely sold out, they cancelled the other two.

Hey Daryl D,
The only song I agree with you about is Call on Me. All them other songs are banging (especially Hips Don't Lie ). 2006 was a good year for Mariah. For someone to get two Grammy Award nominations for an album that's 2 years old is good thing. In 2005 she had already won 3 Grammys. Remember, the TEOM was released, in hello, 2005. In 2006, TEOM still ended up being number 11 on Billboards best selling albums of 2006, and on the R&B album chart, it came in at number 7. Sure, there were concerts cancelled due to low ticket sales, but there also were concert dates added in other areas of the world. Such as Canada and Japan. Bottom line, Mariah's tour grossed financially over expectations. It had a 93% sell out rate, but you will never, ever believe that even if the proof is right in front of your face. I know your gonna check it out. Most people that claim they can't stand Mariah Carey for some reason can't resist knowing everything about her career. If you do, and I'm right, could you honestly humble yourself and admit that you were wrong about her tour being a flop? Nah, I don't think so. That's okay though, because bottom line, I'm sure Mariah Carey ain't losing no sleep over you, but I think your losing sleep thinking about all her supposed failures.
Humble yourself Daryl, do some research, I dare you to.

Hmmm, I actually like all of those songs. Call on Me was a bit boring, but I wouldn't say it was one of the worst songs of 2006. How about horrific songs such a Buttons by the Pussy Cat Dolls, or let's say Ring the Alarm by Beyonce? I don't see a problem with being sarcastic, entertaining, or critical towards certain artists, but man, you didn't critisize Mariah Carey's FLy Like A Bird. You personally attacked her. What does her ticket sales have to do with why her single was one of your worst choices. FLy Like a Bird is a very inspirational, uplifting song. The lyrical content of the song is very positive. Commerically, that song wasn't released as a single, Def Jam put a stop to that, didn't even do a video for it, but it still managed to go to #1 on Urban Radio, and #1 on Billboard Adult Urban Contemporary charts. With promotion, FLy Like A BIrd may have become Ms. Carey's 18th number #1 hit. To this day, I still hear it every Sunday morning on the radio. I agree with you about Say Something, never liked it. It was a flop, but alot of artists have flops. Def Jam pushed the wrong song. What does 49 cent singles have to do with topic? If this is true, I'm sure Mariah wasn't the only artist that sold singles for 49 cents. We only know about her because she is so successful. Besides, I've gone to record stores and been given cd singles by other artists such as Destiny's Child, and yes Madonna, for free! As a matter of fact, a got a free Robin Thicke cd single in Best Buy the other day. B'day, brought that for $6.99. Bottom line, no matter how cheap music is sold, ain't nobody gonna buy it, unless they like it. Record companies come up with all kinds of inventive ways to sell records, or get their artists to number#1. Give Mariah Carey some credit, she has been in the business for 17 years. Fell flat on her face but still managed to have the biggest selling album in 2005. You focus on her losing 2 Grammys, so doesn't that make Indie Arie, Natilie Cole, and Beyonce losers because they all lost to Mary J. Blige. Be entertaining, but don't come across as a jerk towards certain artists.
When I compare your critic of Fly Like a Bird to Billboard's critic of the same song, all I can is laugh, but maybe when it comes to people, not writers who blog, that's what were suppose to do in the first place.

Mariah Carey is a no-talent stuffed sausage. She's a has-been.

Mariah's had the BIGGEST SELLING ALBUM OF 2005 and the BIGGEST SINGLE OF 2005 - WE BELONG TOGETHER - I hardly would call that a has-been. Haters please get a life!

And might I add - Mariah's BIGGEST SINGLE OF 2005 was #1 on the BILLBOARD HOT 100 for an amazing 15 WEEKS!!!! The 2nd longest run at Billboard - AND of course, she also has the record for THE longest running song on Billboard at 16 weeks with ONE SWEET DAY. Yup, how sweet it is!!

I have to admit something. After writing this colum, I have been listening to Sexy Back for the past couple days and I'm actually starting to like it. I hated it when it came out last year.

justin timberlake is actually quite good as a singles artist. he's very pop, and not bad at it. most of the other stuff on this list, and on the charts, is total crap, popular music rather than POP music.
36 - C. Hudson
I can agree with everything on the list but the Justin record, which is surprisingly good.

You know what, I REALLY like Sexy Back now. I'm really liking "What Comes Around" too. Help me, I'm becoming a Timberlake fan!" Maybe that's what my next article will be about, but it hopefully won't cause as much controversy as the Springsteen one.
