The Critiquees ("Cri-tee-kees")

Dear Readers,

Thanks to you we had a tremendous 2002. Award season is upon us, and every critic, their horses, and their mothers are doing it. So we will too. We are thus initiating

The First Annual Blogcritics Awards - The Critiquees ("Cri-tee-kees")

as voted upon by YOU, our readers. We are holding a separate critic's poll and we will announce the results of the reader's and the critic's poll at the same time.

We will break up our awards into Music, Video and Books (no Et Cetera)

First up will be the music awards, to be followed shortly by video, and books.

Here are the music categories:

-album of the year

-song of the year

-songwriter of the year

-rock album

-country/Americana album

-r&b album

-jazz album

-world/reggae album

-electronic album

-soundtrack album

-best re-issue or compilation [box sets, re-mastered, or bonuses]

-best new artist

-album that sucks most vigorously

We're looking for recordings released in 2002. Pick UP TO FIVE CHOICES in each category. Choices will be weighted five points for the first pick, down to one point for the fifth pick. Do not feel obliged to vote in categories where you have no opinion.

Deadline for returning ballots will be Monday, February 13, so results can be tabulated and announced on Thursday, February 16 (one week before the Grammys).

Voting will be by email to Eric Olsen: ericolsen@compuserve.com

Thanks and Happy Voting,
Eric Olsen

i'll email mine... but a quick question, eric o... where is the folk option? dance/rave? metal? we seem to be neglecting a lot of the musical spectrum here...

We didn't set up a blue million subcategories, but ANY album would be eligible for in most of the categories, ie album of the year, songwriter, etc.
