The best day of high school is the day you graduate. Taylor Swift—Country teen queen—has received her diploma and is proudly a member of the recently graduated class of 2008.
When not hitting the books, Taylor released her album Taylor Swift with hit songs “Our Song” and “Teardrops on my Guitar.” Her self-titled CD has sold over three million copies. She has been nominated for Breakout Artist for the Teen Choice Awards, premiering next Monday on Fox. Trust me, that will be something not to miss. A new album is due out soon.
The only downside of her high school graduation was that she missed the ceremony! Well this is a downside unless you’re like me and fell asleep during your eighth grade graduation and you really could care less about leaving the morons at your school. In all fairness, Taylor was touring with country band Rascal Flatts. Of course, this tour goes nowhere near my house. The tour’s probably a bit more important. She received her diploma in the mail. Taylor has been homeschooled since 11th grade.
Taylor writes on her Myspace page: “Another thing I'm excited about is that I've officially graduated from high school!! CLASS OF 2008. YESSSSSSS.”
"Education has always been at the forefront of my priorities, so I'm really glad to have my diploma," she has said. Added to it, she also said, "There's something really exciting about getting to live your dream and continue your education at the same time."
I agree. I am so proud of Taylor Swift for producing great country music that teens can relate to and getting her diploma. Music is great, but it isn’t everything. I’m glad Taylor has found a balance.
