The moronic and behind the times record industry has made some of their best selling artists have copy protection on their CDs. It only happens on Windows machines and here's what happens: if you have auto run on enabled and you put the copy protected CD into your CD drive it puts up some type of license agreement. If you accept this license agreement then a little piece of turd software is loaded onto your system and does all sorts of digital signature stuff. Once this occurs you cannot rip the songs from your CD at all but can only use the WMA files on the CD, which are not the top quality files.…

I love buying cds and own over 300 to date but with this many cds (and an ipod) i find it much more convenient to rip them to mp3 and listen to them with playlists etc through winamp. I personally would not buy a cd with this new copyright protection on it... unless it was by tool. More reason to buy independent releases.

isn't this what america's all about. the right to expression. Talk about something all you want, but you're really not allowed to actually do anything and nothing really depends on you (the market) it's just the whims of the corporations. when they decide that you need to see that something's happening they put on a show that people think actualy means something. if tim foreman and others simply said "screw you" to the record companies on a mass level when it came to such issues the labels would have to listen. but he and others like him are so confined by the comforts they enjoy, apparently, that they won't do so. so screw them and the labels. the "music" they create is nothing more than just mind-controlling aafirmation of what we're supposed to think anyway. if you don't believe that and aren't willing to even think about it, then they actually have succeeded and you should just continue listening to all these liars. otherwise find real artists and listen to their stuff and put thes blowhards out.

This artists need also money to live :o) No, really, this kind of thing make me really angry, because if I want to hear a song that I paid for it, I need to install all kind of junk in my system...I hope in future there will be a smart alternative for it
