Follow up to my review last week of the Impulsive! anthology: Apparently I wasn't the only person who thought that the Telefon Tel Aviv remix of Oliver Nelson's stone classic "Stolen Moments" on the recent Impulsive! remix anthology was noteworthy. The remix has been nominated for a Gilles Peterson Worldwide award for 2005.
In my review, I wrote, "I've always loved ["Stolen Moments"]...Telefon Tel-Aviv ... re-envisions the work as an orchestral masterpiece heard through a distant radio station, with strings tuning up and then faintly carrying the famous lines through static and synths. It's the highlight of a generally excellent collection."
You can vote for the winners on the BBC's site (and, apparently, win a shot at a ticket to the awards).
