Steely Dan At The Gorge Amphitheater, 2 August 2003 - correction to previous review

In my review of the Steely Dan show at The Gorge Amphitheater, Saturday, 2 August 2003, I noted the following:

"PS: I forgot to mention the sound! The Sound! It was beyond description - most of the tunes sounded better live than on record. In 2000, long time SD engineer Roger Nichols was on board, so it made sense then. This time, I didn't spot him, but suspect his hand was in the mix somewhere, as perhaps was Elliot Scheiner. Both Nichols and Scheiner won Grammies for 2VN."
Subsquent to my review, I received a nice e-mail from one Mr David Morgan. Turns out a friend of David e-mailed him my concert review, and he was kind enough to contact me, and let me know that in fact, he is the front-of-house sound engineer for not only this Steely Dan tour, but the two previous ones as well! David wrote:
"Hi Randy. I have been the sound engineer for Steely Dan on each of the last three tours. Neither Roger Nichols nor Eliot Scheiner has ever had anything to do with what you have heard in the audience. Roger has only done the onstage sound for Donald and Walter on two tours. Eliot has never been on the road with us. ... I am glad you enjoyed the show. Come see us again!"

David, thanks for contacting me, which gives me the opportunity to post the correct information to Blogcritics.com! Even better, David advised that,

" If you or fans at the websites have any questions about the sound for Donald, Walter and the band please feel free to email me."
That said, if you would like to contact David Morgan about the incredible job he is doing on the Everything Must Go Tour '03, please e-mail him at morganmix at aol.com (please substitute an "@" for the "at" - you know the drill!)

David won a 2001 TEC Award for his work mixing FOH for Steely Dan (which I am assuming means Front of House for the Steely Dan Tour 2K). On the Shure site, David talks about his miking techniques with Gregory A. De Tonge. If you would like to learn more about David Morgan's work, check out this interview on the ProSoundWeb.com site from 20 May 2002.

This gives me a second opportunity to encourage you to check out the current Steely Dan Tour. It is SO worth the time and money to see the show, and listen to the amazing sound, mixed and engineered with love and care by David Morgan.
