Paul Stanley of Kiss is currently working on songs for his first solo album in 25 years. There?s no news yet on when the as yet untitled record might be released, but the singer/guitarist is collaborating with a number of songwriters, including Andreas Carlsson, who has worked with Bon Jovi in the past.
Well with a little help, Stanley might manage to avoid putting out the utter shite of his first solo effort. Still it will be interesting to see what he and Gene come up with solo. Of all the Kiss members, the best solo stuff has been from Ace.

Gene Simmons latest solo effort, "ASSHOLE" was truly awful. However, as KISS fans know, Stanley actually has formidable talent. I bet his solo album will be quite good. And, one more thing; THICK BLACK COCK!

Paul is and was KISS- not the money machine Gene. Paul has always been the most overall talented member- he will do great solo....

I thought Ace had the best solo album the first time around but I loved Paul's just as well. Paul's songs tend to be a little more pop-like, romantic, a little cheesy but he writes some very good songs and he still has the voice and everything else I've always loved about him x 29 years...all the talk about a solo tour is very exciting also...can't wait!!!

i liked pauls solo album best out of all of them. Cant wait to hear his new stuff. Always thought he should have a band called the paul stanley band. Rock on paul rick in monterey california

To suggest that any other solo album came close to Paul Stanleys is utter nonsense.
If you remove his songs from the Kiss albums you would be left with utter garbage generally ( I`ll accept a handful of exceptions)
I`ll be happy if his new album is as good as his first one , although sadly I think that understandably his vocal range has dimished with age.

'diminished' even .....

Ace and his Project "Ace Frehleys Comets" did very well in the time before the re-union...
( Hopefully there will be a new album coming out soon...)
I think Genes "***hole" was a quickshot, not really one of my favourites...
Pauls Album will be a great one, i am sure...eventually a little bit like "Carnival of Souls" mixed with his first Solo-Album...
Greetings from Germany:-)

I have my doubts wether well see Paul Stanley's new solo album in 2005 or ever.

I think his second solo effort will be quite good. I don't think it will do very well in sales though becuase there will be no real push to market it.
His style of music is somewaht out of favour with todays artisits, but for me I very much look forward to it.
I think we will find a somewhatt refelective and toned down sound on this record, there maybe a couple of rockers, but it will be very mid tempo radio friendly record with more than one ballad :(
He has some good players on the record so I have heard, so the musicianship will be top notch, but as I said it will fail to reach the masses so only myself and die hard KISS fans will have this in there collection when it comes out.

THE NEW PAUL ALBUM WILL BE THE BEST ONE IN THE LAST 40 YERAS, OF ANY ROCK OR METAL BAND. PAUL IS KISS, KISS MUSIC IS PAUL, IS VOICE NOT DISMISHED WTH AGE, BIG MISTAKE, IF YOU THINK THAT YOU DONT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MUSIC. WAIT AND HEAR HIS NEW CD, HE SINGS LIKE NEVER BERFORE. IT WILL BE OUT ON YANUARY. PAUL IS ONE OF THE BEST ROCK HARD MUSICIAN OF ALL TIMES. HIS NEW SOLO ALBUM WILL BE GREAT, COOL, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

The album will be interesting to say the least. I agree with earlier comments that if you take away Stanley songs from all Kiss albums there really wouldn't be a Kiss album. Stanley's vocal abilities have improved over time. His 16 week stint as the Phantom of the Opera in Toronto and his strong vocal performance in the Symphony album certainly backs that up. Like most, I look forward to the solo effort and will enjoy the album as I have all other Stanley efforts.

All I want is him to put it out. I'm sure it'll be great. Or at least better than Gene's! I have confidence in Stanely.

When will this album be out? Why has Paul not talked about the album lately?
14 - DJRadiohead
If Paul has nothing more to say on this album than he has in songs of the past 15 years this thing is going nowhere. Another 15 songs of female conquests just isn't going to interest the masses.

PAUL IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE ULTIMATE FRONTMAN. THEIR IS NO DOUGHT HIS NEXT SOLO EFFORT WILL BE AMAZING, OF COURSE IT WILL BE IGNORED BY CRITICS AND RADIO. KISS AND PAUL WILL ALWAYS BE SHUNNED BY THE MASSES OF SO CALLED MUSIC CRITICS. BOTTOM LINE PAUL STANLEY IS THE ULTIMATE ROCK GOD THAT IS REALLY NEVER MENTIONED ABOUT OR SEEN ON TV OR HEARD ON THE RADIO. LONG LIVE KISS AND LONG LIVE THE LEGEND OF PAUL STANLEY!!!!

Well all of you have good points.. and bad ones as well. But take this into thought for a moment. Paul is a very dynamic versitile musician...He has done all styles of music and to be true to him and his fan he will make sure that it is 100% Paul Stanley. Sure he has his share of cheesy pop lyrics however they were also top hits aswell. So who is cheesy? Paul for pening such songs or John Q public for calling in to radio and requesting to hear such things.
Paul wont do anything that isnt Paul Stanley.

paul stanley has been kiss since day one when it comes to song writing and showmanship. his solo lp from all 4 in the late 70's outshined em all. it was a great l.p that sill holds up. gene was trying too hard to be the beatles, ace was 'good' for him but no where near pauls great l[p, and peters was way too non-rock to matter a bit.
good luck to paul on the new solo l.p. tat great voice should be on new lps nowadays!
cheers

Like most of the comments above, I too am a Stanley devotee. There is no comparison between Stanley & Simmons, but together they are rock's Lennon & Mcartney. They just can't work together - shame. I just hope Paul stays true to his melodic catchy rock style rather than try and write what he thinks keeps up with the times. Carnival of Souls was terrible. I'm all for trying variations to the theme, but when we buy chocolate ice cream there's nothing worse than getting home & finding that it is strawberry!

I think it would be cool to hear Paul do an album of music that would never fit on a KISS record. I don't mean doing a bossa nova record or anything preposterous like that. I just mean... I would like to see him do some rock and acoustic stuff that wouldn't play on a KISS record.

I'm just looking forward to something new!
Paul has been great with KISS and the band will always be my favorite. I particularly liked Ace's album the best in '78 but....I'm real happy to see Paul is recording something new. KISS will always be a benchmark the guys will have try to top as solo artists and I don't know if anything like that is possible? As a group, KISS is great. Individually, very talented...but not KISS. Still, aside from The Darkness's new CD and maybe the next JET CD...I'm anticipating the release of this one!

I agree with the earlier comments that without Paul there would not be a KISS and I believe that had Gene left instead of Ace or Peter KISS would’ve still gone on to be successful. The early stage show was spectacular but musically, not financially, I think the band made a mistake putting the make-up back on. KISS was putting out new material and progressing through Paul’s music up until that point. Unfortunately, KISS’s decision to step back in time blocked them from moving forward. Paul said it himself in a recent interview that even if the material is better then the old stuff it won’t get the same attention. Sure their making truck loads of money but where is Gene’s integrity? I hope that Paul’s new album will be a step forward and we’ll hear the type of great material that kept KISS alive after the make-up came off.

Paul Stanley's new solo effort will probably sound like a new KISS album with only him on vocals(like the 80's Kiss albums). I'm sure it will be a good album, at least better than Gene's last one(Asshole). His solo album back in 1978 was second to only Ace Frehley's, even though Gene $immons' album sold the most of the four, and Paul is a good song writer and his newest effort should be worth getting if you are a KISS fan.

I think that Paul Stanley's new solo album will be even better than the first one. I can't wait until it comes out in stores.
24 - erich
I think Paul's first solo album was great, and I'm looking forward to his new one. Gene's solo "A$$hole", had 5 good songs on it, but I'm sure Paul's will be all good--!

Paul Stanley IS Kiss. I agree with an earlier comment, that, if one takes away the voice of Paul--and his songs--there is NO Kiss. Paul's original album was the best; musically, it is likely in the top 100 rock-albums of all time. He has an incredible amount of musical talent--perhaps his deafness contributes to his intonation. However, that being said, albums such as "Carnival of Souls" and all the re-makes, have only caused me concern and hesitation when purchasing Kiss merchandise. I will listen to Paul's album, first, BEFORE I buy. I regret so many of my recent Kiss album purchases (remakes, remakes, remakes)--but I, like many, am a junkie for Kiss--I can't get enough until I've shelled out the money only to be, again, disappointed in the product. Paul's constant cynacism towards the fans, combined with an unjustified arrogance, makes him seem stand-offish; You know. . .you are a rock-star--you write songs, sing, and provide entertainment--you don't do heart transplants or save people from burning buildings. Remember, always, who put you, and Kiss, where you are. Your efforts, combined with our wallets, did that. I eagerly await the solo album, but. . .
