Well maybe not the end of the world, but since we're probably going to war in 48 hours, I've compiled a list of records that mellow me out. Maybe they'll help you chill and get some of this pre-war anxiety off your mind.
Grab a blanket and your sweety, light a fire, and get listening.
Pete Yorn - Musicforthemorningafter - A younger, sexier Springsteen. Pete's voice will captivate you. The songs ain't bad either. Seriously, this is one of my top ten all time faves.
Jeff Buckley - Grace - Rarely do you come across such a flawless record. If you don't own this, you should go deaf for abusing your privelige to hear such excellence.
Radiohead - Amnesiac - The fully-matured Radiohead. Every sound is planned out. Who cares that you can't sing along?
Fugazi - Instrument Soundtrack - Very untypical, even for Fugazi. Most of these are demos or early versions of songs. I believe there are only two tracks of the 22 that have vocals.
Cave-In - Jupiter - My friend Scoot says every note is perfect. I might agree with him.
The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs - Best Smiths record. If the world really were coming to an end, I'd want Morrissey there, wouldn't you?
Jets To Brazil - Four Cornered Night - They've found the formula for stripping songs down to their very simplest form. The lyrics are beautiful also, and will stay with you.
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots - Trust me. You want this CD. This record changes lives.
Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun - They sing in Icelandic, but who cares what they're saying. Pretend the vocals are another instrument altogether. They meld beautifully with the electric guitar (played by a violin bow of course).
Godspeed You Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven - You've never heard anything like this. I guarantee it.
Hope you like the list. Click over and buy some.
