Sonic Youth - Dirty (Deluxe Edition)

For years and years Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation was the record I went to when the mood struck for some ugly & hypnotic guitar.

The deluxe edition of Dirty now sits in that spot. Actually, it's the second disc of the set: full of b-sides and, more important, a ton of rehearsal recordings.

Blistering and hideous guitar madness.

This isn't for everyone...but if you're up for some guitar torture then you oughta start right here.

Just saw them play a free show last sunday at the 3 rivers arts festival in Pittsburgh, and they were fantastic. I have one of the first pressings of Dirty, before they changed the artwork under the cover tray. Does anyone know if "Goo" will be reissued also?

Love that "detuning" and all the weird tonalities they get with various tunings - can't decide it I like the real songs or the deranged noise best. Probably the songs in the long run.

This album retreads early Eargasm and Tidal Flushing, but in a good way. Definitely worth checking out.

Dirty was a great album, but Swimsuit Issue's gotta be sounding really dated these days with the supermodel roll call, even if the message itself is unfortunately timeless.
