In the bridge, Rimes says the relationship tested her strength and resolve. She's been crippled by her doubt. However, with the trip she realized she needed to be her own person. Then, she was able to get through it.
"Well, I have walked through the fire/And crawled on my knees through the valley of the shadow of doubt/Then the truth came shining like a light on me and now I can see my way out."
The chorus is sung again. Rimes adds that she's going to be spontaneous and live life to the fullest. She's going to do what she has always wanted to do but thought she couldn't.
"I'm gonna buy a one-way ticket on a west bound train/See how far I can go/I'm gonna go out dancing in the pouring rain/And talk to someone I don't know/I'm gonna buy a one-way ticket on a west bound train/Gonna have my breakfast with some pink champagne/I'm gonna sail the ocean, I'm gonna spread my wings/I'm gonna climb that mountain, gonna do everything."
Although Rimes was only a tween when she recorded the single, her self-assured vocals make her age irrelevant. Rimes is determined to find her own identity and have some harmless fun, too. She does not bash her ex-boyfriend or engage in self-destructive behavior to discover herself, like many songs would have her do.

My husband and I were in Tenn. (you know where)
Found a house for sale and went into see it.
There was you mom holding her little palm and you step-dad.
We ended up visiting along time.
How wonderful they are.
I live in CA. (Ontario Calif.) and my husband was going to take a job in Fairview Tenn.
We decided against it....this has been some time now but thought you would get a kick out this e-mail. Your probably rememebs no doubt.. We hit it off great. Hope they found a house you mom liked.
