Single Review: John Mayer "Your Body Is A Wonderland" - Page 2

The pre-chorus and chorus are sung again.

In the bridge, he says that spent many nights thinking of sleeping with her and it not happening. However, he has her now. Sometimes, he can't even look at her without getting turned on.

"Damn baby/You frustrate me/I know you're mine all mine all mine/But you look so good it hurts sometimes."

A plodding guitar solo follows.

The chorus ends the single.

The woman is a conquest in "Your Body Is A Wonderland." She's a beautiful woman he must have. All her physical features are praised. Her appreciation for him or even caring doesn't even matter.
Mayer tries to pass off the song as a romantic ode to lovemaking. But his emphasis on her body (and nothing else) reveals him to be a shallow guy.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone heard anything about his new live album? I've caught a few clips of recent concerts, and he's really quite talented. Dave Matthews meets Stevie Ray Vaughn.

I agree about "Wonderland" and that other hit of his, about fathers and daughters. It's equally disturbing. Both songs are obviously targeted at swooning young women.

You all obviously know nothing about poetry...and certainly nothing about John Mayer..."Wonderland" is not a crass let's get it on song...it is an ode and appreciation for the opposite sex - namely one whom is loved and adored...listen with your pants zipped next time and you may hear clearer...

There is nothing wrong with appreciating the physical things in life :-)

John Mayer is a great song writer and I disagree with the assertion that this song is "crass."
"I'll never let your head hit the bed without my hand behind it." What does this us?
Personally, I think that it is a romantic song. I think it can be interpreted different ways depending on how you view John Mayer as a person. From the rest of his songs, I don't think he was trying to be vulgur.

i think this is a beautiful song, if you look at lyrics these days everyting evolves around seks a lot more than this song almost the whole music industry is shallow these days. In this song the addoration for his girlfriends body is described very romantic. There is nothing wrong with a man apreciating his one and only girlfriend... so this has nothing to do with swooning women (plural)Its the other way around, the only wonderland he needs is the one of his girlfriend! I think the fact that he won a grammy for this song says about enough!

I hate to break it to you, but sex is about physical things. If he were that shallow he wouldn't refer to it as love. When you make love, it means you love them and are expressing yourself physically. Because that's what sex is. He's making it special. Something more guys should do.

i completely disagree with your comment "reveals him to be a shallow guy". just because he's praising a woman's beauty doesn't mean he's shallow or a pervert.
