Single Review Black Eyed Peas "My Hump" - Page 2

"My Hump" is trash. Fergie's materalism and willigness to use her body for it is grating. Even worse, she's proud of degrding herself. At least the Black Eyed Peas picked an obscure song to sample. However, Sexual Harassment's provocative "I Need A Freak"has a forcefulness, intelligence and carnality Fergie can't even muster. Dig up the original instead.

How funny, I was just thinking the same thing after seeing the video not five minutes ago.

It's an entertaining tune, nevertheless. Interpreting the woman as a stripper just doing her job makes it easier to fathom, perhaps.

I have been a long time fan of BEP and when that woman joined them I was okay about it. They have gradually become much poppier now and their most recent album is really very poor.

This song is without a doubt the worst BEP track ever, I just hope it doesn't prove to be the end of The Peas...

I really like the Black Eyed Peas but I agree, this song is trash. The first time I heard it I actually thought it was a parody or something. I thought I'd heard it all but I guess I was wrong...my god, that song sucks.

And now I'm back an hour and a half later to thank you for putting this song in my head. It won't go away!!!! I'd rather have "Muskrat Love" playing over and over in my head than this damn song.

I think I just read the worst rap lyrics ever. Good Lord.

Indeed. I'd managed to avoid this song/video so far, but had to read the lyrics for myself.

    Wow.

Between peeing herself at Street Scene and performing this song, Fergie taken quite a nosedive in my book.

i thin "retarded" is an apt word to describe whoever writes lyrics for this band.

Trash is an understatement. The song is just plain stupid.

Consider it a modern version of Tina Turner's "Private Dancer" without all that Tina can deliver to the song;)

  • 11 - alienboy

    Nov 01, 2005 at 3:40 pm

Tina didn't bleat "my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump" like some demented Quasimodo

Agreed - her song was definitely better, more class and musical quality.

    Black Eyed Peas-

It doesn't bother me that they suck, it's that they're taken seriously. Despite being an absolute joke, they are ridiculously famous. The overwhelmingly clich lyrics, ignorant political ranting and mainstream radio saturation of "Where is the Love" still didn't keep people from saying "Amen" every time it came on. If the name Will I. Am isn't enough to keep you away from this band, a quick glance of their lyrics ought to.

"What's wrong with the world mama?
People living like aint got no mamas
Overseas yeah we tryin to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin In the USA
the big CIA the Bloodz the Crips and the KKK"

That's right, the genius lyricist who so deftly rhymed "mama" with "mamas" just concluded that the CIA was as evil as the KKK. I think its pretty obvious that the band does live by its own motto being "retarded"

Which brings us to our next song, "Lets Get Retarded in Here" Not only did the band in complete seriousness write a song with a chorus of "Get retarded,/get retarded, get retarded./Let's get retarded (ha),/let's get retarded in here," but they then proceeded to edit it for political correctness and sell it to the NBA

    OH MY GOD!!!
    Could it BE more terrible???
In about 20 minutes, they're gonna be "The Black Eyed....what were they called again?"
They were much cooler when they had that chick from "Guiding Light", you know, the runaway chick that claimed Duncan McKegney raped her, then, after leaving the show, and after having 4 kids, decided it MIGHT be a good idea to, I don't know, maybe MARRY the FATHER!!??, who just happend to be one of Bob Marleys kids, in the band with Ziggy.
    I remember....Lauren Hill. That's her name.
How DID I get this far off the topic?
Oh, wait, maybe I'm thinking of The Fugees....
    Anyhow, terrible, terrible song. Terrible.

    Uh, Karumba!!
    Ohhh, terrrible.
They were a better group when they did those songs with the dude with the big nose, that song that goes "touch what ya like, smell who ya like, do what ch like...." With that hook "oh, oh, do me baby..." "Now stop what ya doin, cuz I'm a bout to ruin, the image and the style that ya used to, I look funny, but, yo, I'm makin money, see...." I think those might be two different songs, same group, though. They were better with that big nosed dude. Back then, they were called, Sex Packets, or maybe that was the album. Wait, I remember, the goofy long-haired white/black guy from the BEP's is the SAME goofy DJ dude from group that did that song in '90 called "The groove is in the heart", that '60's looking video with the crazy heroin chick (no, not Nicole Ritchy). What was the name of that group?
    Anyway, hate the song.
    Back to work....

HOW embarrasing!!! If you actually WROTE that song, would you actually LET someone PUBLISH it so others might HEAR it? They must be idiots. Awful. Aw-ful. Like Dek said, they were better with that other dude with the long hair. He had a couple really cool albums, one called "Caravan of light", or Caravan of Dreams. Cool, chill out stuff. Alot like Royksopp. David Arkenstone, that' his name. Kinda like a Yanni rip off. But cooler. Same thing. Both dudes think they are living in India in the desert or something. They look like stinky artsy dudes who need a shower. Alot like the kids at that Savana Art Institue in Georgia.
Anybody like Cliff Richard, or that show "The Young Ones"? Anybody know where I can get DVD's of those episodes? Used to watch em up at U.W. Oshkosh in the mid-90's on Sunday nights on MTV while drinking bottles of Old Mil. FUN-NY!! The punk rock dude with the nose ring and the girls name is a riot. Always breaking stuff. Oh, the good old days.
Hate the Peas song, by the by....

    Hey Dek,
It's ""The miseducation of Lauren Hill".
Won a ton of awards by blaming everything bad that ever happend in her life on white people, and the liberal hollywood-types glammed all over it/her and said "ohhh, ground-breaking stuff".
Other than one song, it really sucked, though.
You know what they say, "it's not who you know, it's who......
    It's who......
Whatever, they were BOTH terrible, Lauren & BEP hump.
Hey, Mr. 80's, remember a movie from '80, or '81 called Evil Speak? Starred Ron Howard's brother. Guy finds the devil in the basement of an old church....really cool movie.

I am suprised....*wow* People actually hate this song? I'm not the only one? But,it doesn't suprise me that people like it... It's all about the materialistic, uneducated approach these days!
Who cares about music as a soulful craft if you can make millions off the mindless masses...Obviously, it must be a "Black Thang" to measure the CIA with the KKK. Has the African-American community really stooped this low?? It's bad enough that they raped Motown with their "Grand Theft Sample" Ideology... And that whole"Let's get Retarded" crap... F*ck them...How would they like to be born with Down Syndrome?? If they are so concerned with oppression then why are they kicking people with Mental Disabilities? Stupid F*cking Jackasses!!
Yeah...That's right...Because their "civil integrity" passed on with Rosa Parks!!
