Sheryl Crow said she is recovering from breast cancer surgery this weekend. Crow's doctors have said the prognosis is "excellent" she will recover fully from the procedure.
Dave Tomberlin, publicist for Crow, said there were no complications from the surgery. Crow said in a statement on her website that she will be undergoing radiation treatment as a precaution, and she urged others to get checked for breast cancer. "I am inspired by the brave women who have faced this battle before me and grateful for the support of family and friends," the 44-year-old rock star said.
Lance Armstrong, Crow's former fiance, said he was "devastated" by her illness. Armstrong, a seven time Tour de France winner, is a testicular cancer survivor.
Crow urged those with questions about cancer to contact the LIVESTRONG Survivor Care group, founded by Armstrong.
