Fate has a played a major role in Shakira's romance in the imaginative "Whenever, Wherever."
A coy guitar opens the single, leading to the explosive melody. Her boyfriend was born in a city hours away from her. They share inside jokes about the fact that he somehow made it to her part of the world. She mentions that she loves her country, which has stopped her from leaving. However, if it was not for living in the country, she wouldn't have met him: "Lucky you were born that far away so/ We could both make fun of distance/ Lucky that I love a foreign land for/ The lucky fact of your existence."
She would follow him to the top of the highest mountain, risking life and limb to be intimate with him. Before him, her relationships were shallow and meaningless. Now, she can't stop listing the qualities she loves about him. "Baby I would climb the Andes solely/ To count the freckles on your body/ Never could imagine there were only/ Ten million ways to love somebody."
In the pre-chorus, she lets rip with "le ro lo le lo le, Le ro lo le lo le's." Then, she tells him she's devoted to him: "Can't you see/ I'm at your feet."
In the chorus, she says they would've been a couple regardless of the circumstances. While she's in one spot, he's usually close by. He doesn't have to worry about her cheating. They'll handle troubles as they come. Along with making time together, solving conflicts is a must for Shakira for the relationship to be successful: "Whenever, wherever/ We're meant to be together/ I'll be there and you'll be near/ And that's the deal my dear/ Thereover, hereunder/ You'll never have to wonder/ We can always play by ear/ But that's the deal my dear."
In the second verse, she's feels grateful that she can whisper to him or spoil him with kisses, if she desires. She's proud of her A-cupped breasts and glad he's not obsessed with buying her implants. She's thankful she's able to have some space to cry and not to be found. But if he breaks up with her, she will be inconsolable: "Lucky that my lips not only mumble/ They spill kisses like a fountain/ Lucky that my breasts are small and humble/ So you don't confuse them with mountains/ Lucky I have strong legs like my mother/ To run for cover when I need it/ And these two eyes that for no other/ The day you leave will cry a river."

Just waxing, but I just learned yesterday that Shakira is only 4'11" in real life. If only I had a pair of those boots she wears to appear taller. Of course, I'd probably break both ankles. Oh well.

Shakira is my inspiration in belly dancing, the way she sings, her ways of being straight up to peaople (the press)and also because she represents all of COLOMBIA !
