Shakira mad at Madonna

CMU

Shakira has said Madonna was "spineless" when she axed her controversial video to 'American Life'. As previously reported the original video for Madonna's latest single feature pictures of the suffering recent wars have caused. Needless to say reports of the video caused controversy in the US, especially as the attack on Iraq began, and Madonna eventually reedited the video - while she still appears in military dress she sings in front of various flags. Claiming she was pro-peace but not anti-America Madonna said she allowed the re-edit because it would be insensitive to go ahead when American troops were fighting in the Middle East.

But the vehemently anti-war Shakira told reporters this weekend: "I'd expect a little more backbone from Madonna. Good pop music is always political in times of crisis." Shakira herself has included anti-war visuals in her live shows.

Marty: Hrm, lecturing an enduring pop icon, wonder where Shakira will be in 20 years? Madonna, being the incredibly clever woman she is, has generated lots of interest in the video. She also has avoided a Chickgate and retains her record sales.

I think it terribly sexist of us to mention Shakira and Madonna in the same post and not mention either of their asses.

Isn't Shikira the stank hoe from Columbia. About her comment, the trailor park trash has left the building.

Hey, Madonna has never been one to shy from controversy. If she changed her video when world events changed, then I believe she was acting in accordance with her conscience.

    Good for her!

Or maybe she was acting in accordance to her wallet. Maybe she was afraid that her album might be shunned like the Dixie Chicks (if I'm correct, the video has a little bit of Bush-bashing in it). Regardless, she's a very talented artist and is always experimenting, but I think her new album's subject matter is all B.S. How many other people can you name that has indulged in the American Life more than Madonna?
