Just a little bit of Wyndham Hill type music goes a long way with me. New Age, sew-age. When exposed to anything more mellow than Mark Cohn, or India Arie, my ears try to close themselves. So, I was surprised when I found myself liking a song by the singer Iron & Wine yesterday. I was seduced as much by the video that accompanies the song, "Naked As We Came," at the iTunes Music Store, as by the song itself. Perhaps more.
Simon at Webmink is responsible for whatever has happened to me since I became aware of Iron & Wine at his blog.
I'm not going to describe the video because I want you to form your own opinion.
View the vid and hear the song. Let me know if I am succumbing to easy listening syndrome.

The first review of the Iron & Wine album at Amazon is a gas. The reviewer hates it with a passion. Titled the review: "A chunk of pre-plunged vomit lodged in the throat of God." Wow!

Sweet ever-loving Jebus, sounds like we need to stage an intervention. Put down the patchouli, and the prayer beads, and back off from the whateverthefuckthatis.
Take some rapid breaths, and get a grip on how screwheads have taken hold of the unisphere.

Hmmm. I don't know why the reviewer hates the album so much. My reaction was "So What?". Nothing to get excited about, nice voice, nice guitar...nothing new or original. I thought the video was cute...but nothing new there either.
MD, if I were your Doctor I would prescribe several weeks of intense shock therapy.

Uh oh. It ain't looking good. The ailment may be spreading. Today at Borders, I considered an Ottmar Liebert CD. Perhaps I should not listen to any more Iron & Wine songs for my own protection.
