Britney Spears, weary after two failed attempts at marriage this year — the first in January to childhood friend Jason Alexander (not THAT one) in a "surprise" (intoxicated) Las Vegas wedding that was described as a "joke" and annulled 55 hours later, the second just last weekend to "dancer" Kevin Federline, for which the couple couldn't quite figure out the complexities of a marriage license nor complete the pre-nup in time — decided that she didn't really need another actual person to help her with this "marriage thing," and exchanged vows with herself in a private ceremony described as "dignified."

Well spoken, Eric. You title was an homage to the greats at the 'The Onion'. Two marriages in less than a year? I don't care who you are, that screams of desperation and abandonment issues. Now, I am not saying Brittney is looking for a father figure but... oh wait... that is exactly what I am saying.

It's kind of fascinating to watch her spiral downward, from sweet sexy angel to trailer-trash babe. I wonder if Disney is cringing with her every "event" and keeping a very close eye on Hilary Duff - seems everyone who's spent time on the channel turns "controversial" as they get older and more desperate for the spotlight.

The last I've heard she's still married to the pud, but I thought it was hilarious she had another marriage issue with the prenup not finished in time and no marriage license. I wouldn't bet the farm this one will make it to the first anniversary)
