He fined himself actually:
- At a Ryan Adams concert at the Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday, someone in the audience yelled out a request for Summer of '69, a Bryan Adams hit.
Ryan Adams, former leader of the band Whiskeytown, reacted with stream of expletives and ordered the house lights turned on, the Tennessean newspaper reported.
The alternative country musician found the fan who made the joke request, paid him $30 cash as a refund for the show, ordered him to leave and said he wouldn't play another note until that happened.
Ryman general manager Pam Matthews stopped the fan on his way out, "apologized profusely" and allowed him back into the concert.
The fan kept Adams's $30.
After the show Matthews held Adams's arms behind his back while the fan kicked him in the nads.

Eric,
Needless to say, if you're going to have a name similar to a much more famous celebrity, this stuff is bound to happen. And I suspect that by being such a jerk, Adams is only encouraging yahoos to shout for more Bryan Adams tunes at future concerts.

Bwahahahahaha, that's brilliant Eric!
I've heard a gazillion stories about our boy Ryan. Most of 'em from former Whiskeytown bandmates.
3 words for Mr. Adams GET OVER YOURSELF!

Judging by the way he butchered "Nervous Breakdown" (the only song I've heard from him....)on the Black Flag/WM3 tribute disc, I would say that he really has no right to be such an egotistical asshole.

i'm sure he must be quite sick of that stupid joke ... did this idiot think he was the first genius to yell out something that stupid? go out and buy ryan adams cd's and listen to them. and then put on the radio and listen to the same 30 songs they play in rotation. you will realize quickly how talented he is and that there are actually musicians with substance. so he's got the rock'n'roll attitude. i'd understand if someone yelled out whiskeytown requests but that dude was stupid and i'm dissappointed that the manager of the club let him stay in there ... also, ryan adams has a song on the demolition cd called 'tennessee sucks' ... i wonder why!

ryan adams is one of the best musicians out there. i think what he did was a bit egotistical, but he probly hears that all the time and got sick of it.

And here I thought Bryan Adams had all this new material when I was looking through the CD rack ...

Since this happened over a year ago and I haven't heard about any similarly petulent behavior in the meantime, maybe he did get over himself.
By the way, the Bryan Adams soundtrack to the animated "Spirit" movie is outrageously godawful shit.

Regaurdless of Ryan Adams' bratty moments, he is, I think, one of the most talented artists out there. More importantly, I think holding his arms behind his back and letting him get kicked "down below" was way out of line, I would have bashed that "fan"'s face in after he did that to me.

um, I made up the part about the nads, sorry of that wasn't clear

okay, listen. if you were at the show or even heard a recording of the entire thing, you would have heard the jackass shouting out for summer of '69 about a half dozen times before ryan told him to bugger off. not to mention, the ENTIRE audience was booing him and telling him to get lost. he was basically ruining the concert for everyone else, so no wonder ryan told him to leave. leave it to the dumbass media to improperly represent ryan AGAIN, and shame on all of you for bashing him when you don't even know the story.

ryan adams rocks. i'm glad he tried to boot that guy out.

I completely support ryan adams. he is the most prolific singer/songwriters since neil young. and if i would have been there i would have cheered his requests to have that tool removed.
