Rush man charges reduced

Alex Lifeson of Canadian band Rush has had the charges against him reduced relating to that incident at New Years when the guitarist allegedly lashed out at police officers. As previously reported, Lifeson started to lash out when staff at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel restaurant in Naples, Florida stopped his son from accessing their stage to sing. During the altercation that followed the police were called, and it was then Lifeson reportedly elbowed one male officer and pushed his female colleague down some stairs. Although two first-degree felony charges of aggravated battery against a law-enforcement officer, and four related charges, were dropped yesterday, Lifeson still faces two third-degree felony counts of battery which could carry a $500+ fine and possible jail sentence. The guitarist is now due in court on 17 May.
