The four piece rock band known as Rock Kills Kid displays immense budding talent with their self-titled EP release on Fearless Records.
Expect the emo/pop-punk labels attached to their music, but Rock Kills Kid shatters your negative hesitations by taking the attractive aspects from both genres and blends them with a modern blend of rock and roll.
Vocals, led by Jeff Tucker, have the same passion felt when listening to Sunny Day Real Estate; on one hand Jeff can gently lead you through a song (Everything to Me), but he can also make you rock out with a full-force rally (Dream). Don’t expect the ‘my girlfriend dumped me, so life sucks’ or the ‘come on, let’s get drunk and party - I don’t care if you’re a minor’ lyrics either.
There is definitely a distinct sound, but Rock Kills Kid doesn’t pigeon-hole themselves by making the mistake of playing the same old crap that most of their contemporaries do.
