Rising Force isn't quite there yet.

Attack
Yngwie J Malmsteen's Rising Force
SPV

Back in the day, Malmsteen had this great band called Rising Force, which produced cracking albums in the 80s. Alas, the bloke dumped the band and crawled up his rectum to produce some of the most boorish insular self-indulgent hard rock known to man. He is back, with a new version of the band, with Dougie White on vocals. This RF works, sort of; there is much less wanking on this, real songs, as opposed to glorified excuses for Yngwie to show off. There are some alright tunes on this 15 track affair (3 instrumentals). The trouble is, the album is very patchy and does not hold a candle to such RF albums as Reaching Out, Trilogy, or Odyssey. His greatest hits package from the era is an excellent testament to his talent. Attack is pleasant enough; excellent musicianship and tight playing...just a pity the songs were so mundane. Maybe if RF can keep the current line-up together, they might be able to produce something truly worthy of the name. Stil,l one for fans, of YJM only!
