Voivod, which now feature Jason Newsted, have been a major influence on a great deal of the metal world. Rather likes KingsX in the fact they are musician's musicians, they never really got the popular support they deserved. The Quebequers stretched the metal genre as far as it would go and beyond. I hope the loss of Piggy will not prevent the band from continuing.

I can't say I'd heard of Voivod though I know Jason Newsted from his Metallica days. It is nice to see King's X get some love though. I always thought they were extremely underrated.

Newstead was a long-time admirer of the band before he joined after he left Metallica. I have always thought that Metallica were attempting to ape Voivod with Load & Reload. Voivod can be a bit hard to get into at first but a little investment is well worth it. Their latest releasefeatures Newstead and is < a href="http://blogcritics.org/archives/2003/03/02/160646.php">highly recommended.
