Records sales do not reflect impact. Ok, her debut solo album has sold four million. How many did Janet sell of "Janet Jackson"? How many did the Fugee's "Blunted On Reality" sell? Mariah Carey's biggest album, "Daydream" came after three other solo albums. Comparing someone on their second solo album (much less their first) to artists who have been established for years speaks volumes about the true knowledge of the author.

Beyonce appeals the ADD generation. She's mostly visual. Her material lacks depth, her songs are superficial and lack meaning. Does that mean she's not talented? NO. But Beyonce is 25 years old and I wish she would start writing songs that have a little more depth and maturity to them. I thought Beyonce was horrifying in Dream Girls. Her performance of "Listen" was flat and off-key. But, I may have to write an article defending Beyonce. She does not belong in the class of Madonna, Janet, Mariah, or Whitney, but she does not belong with the Britney Spears camp either.
