Ricky Martin Rules!

I'll admit, when I first picked up El Ricky's new album at the hip new Target in my barrio, I carried un poco bit of trepidation. After all, there was no way that Ricky could live up to the unprecedented excellence of his last album: !Ricky! That album was the seminal influence on my young life, opening my eyes to the spicy flavor of life, love, and booty-shakin' previously unexplored by me. Ricky spoke to me through that album, and when I'm feeling blue after another day without a response to my “Missed Connections” Classified (I tried to make it vague), all I need to do is pop in Ricky's album, cue up track #5 (I think you all know what that one is), and the boombox of my soul is set on rumba!

But lightning doesn't strike the same place twice…..does it?

Amigos, let me tell you the answer is a resounding !Si!

Almas de Silencio is not only the best album that Ricky has ever made, it's the best album ever made on this side of the equator. With the first opening drumbeats of track #1, to Ricky's silky Spanish delivery, this album had my bon-bon shakin' all night!

Te amo, Ricky!

You don't believe me, perhaps? I would like to see you listen to the stirring chorus of the final ballad “Usted consiguio ojos del fuego (y un alma del hielo)” and not weep at Ricky's heartfelt pining. You don't even need to speak Espanol to know that Ricky definitely believes every word of that song. I hear you, Ricky. Yo Comprendo.

BTW--I'm fucking kidding. Get the new NothingFace album "Skeletons". Its the follow up to their great album "Violence". The vocals are so much cleaner without any loss to their edge. I'll admit the album isn't as "heavy"--but it definitely is not a sell out album. My only problem is the "anti-war" stance in the lyrics. Here is a band whose lyrics in past albums talked of death and destruction and got you pumped up to do a little violence of your own--now the lyrics seem to be written by Susan Sarandon. If you're like me and can ignore the "message" in the lyrics--you'll enjoy the album.

Wow, that's an awful lot of work done to plug the antithesis of Ricky Martin. I'm impressed!
