RIAA looks at Live365RIAA has said that it will be keeping a close eye on radio service Live365 to make sure its stations comply with the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA). Among other things the DMCA sets limits on the number of songs can be played by one artist in a three hour span and requires digitally identifying tracks.
Man arrested for fake Yahoo! News alert. Takahiro Yamamoto was arrested for “violating patent laws” after he put up a fake Yahoo! News site and then posted a story accredited to the Kyodo news agency. The story “Chinese military invades Okinawa” and the site allegedly attracted over 60,000 hits before being taken down.
Merritt to release Showtunes. Stephin Merritt’s website has announced that a collection of the stage pieces Merritt has worked on with Chen Shi-Zheng will be released next year. The collection, which will pull from 2003's Orphans of Zhao, 2004's Peach Blossom Fan, and 2005's My Life as a Fairy Tale will be released on Nonesuch Records. This is set tentatively for next February.
