Ministry
RANTOLOGY
Boy oh boy…Al Jourgenson just loves to hate President Bush. And while it’s become trendy for uninformed musicians to join the “Hate Bush” crowd, I don’t put Jourgenson in that category. Having actually battled Al politically last year just prior to the election, I can tell you that he’s not just another boob that hates the President because it’s the fashionable thing to do. More to the point, Al is a very well read individual who certainly has done his homework. And while he’s so far left that he can see his right side, you have to applaud him for having the knowledge to back his beliefs. He’s seemingly dedicated his life and his ability to reach people to sharing his political beliefs. While I don’t agree with much of what he’s got to say these days, there’s no denying that Ministry's last two years have been two of the best in their career.
In his RANTOLOGY release, Jourgenson goes to great lengths to rework his past material with new influences of the current problems of the world as he sees them. Probably most interesting on this release is the way most of the material has been remixed to have updated GW Bush quotes as part of the dialog. A fine example comes on the remixed work of “N.W.O.”. Gone are the soundbytes of George Sr., replaced by some very well edited soundbytes from our current Commander In Chief. Sure, most of it is somewhat ludicrous, but to the average fan that won’t be able to tell you which side of the fence CNN, FoxNews and MSNBC all fall on won’t be able to understand that this stuff is fictitious. Other songs, like the remixed version of “No W.” are just blatant attempts to crucify the character of the president. This whole attack on the President is culminated on a new track, the blistering song “The Great Satan”, that seemingly points the finger at the leader of the free world and labels him as the creator of the end of the world.

Excellent review. I used to be a Ministry fan but grew tired of the monotony of the music.

Wow; you must be one of those Americans who actually voted for Bush. I guess with a screwed-up economy and natural environment, plus most of the (intelligent) world hating you, you're sorry now.
