Evan and Jaron, the handsome identical twin brothers who had a knack for musical hits, have recorded six albums since 1994. They're best known for their breakout album Evan and Jaron, which produced three Top 40 hits: "Crazy for This Girl" (U.S. Hot 100 #3, Mainstream Top 40 #1), "From My Head to My Heart" (U.S. Mainstream Top 40 #28 and film soundtrack Runaway Bride), and "The Distance" (U.S. Mainstream Top 40 #29 and film soundtrack Serendipity).
Why mention this blast from the past? Because Jaron Lowenstein is now the present. He currently is finishing a national set of shows playing solo spots all over. After going out west alone but living in Nashville to "get away," Jaron was able to meet up with a country duo named Halfway to Hazard whose self-titled debut album Halfway to Hazard reached #14 on the Billboard country charts.
Early reviews thus far for Jaron, who has played from Los Angeles to the Deep South to the Midwest, have been classified as “a shot of musical virtuosity tangled up with wickedly sly humor and raucous fun.”
During these recent live performances Jaron has shown a knack for self-deprecating humor and a ginsu sharp wit during interactions with the crowd. However, the most noticeable part of the shows is Jaron’s virtuosity on piano and guitar while synchronizing it with a vocal and lyrical acuity that is the truest diamond behind this attractive rough.
Jaron’s live shows offer the kind of “something” that begs the question, what's next? When asked what the future holds since the chart-topping days he told me, “I am working on a new project, but nothing tangible and so nothing really to discuss on that front [chuckle], so come and find out what’s going on.”

I'm pretty freaking particular when it comes to music. Raised with a working musician for a mother and a former recording engineer for a father, I developed an ear early for what works and what doesn't. What doesn't, I have little patience for. What does, I dearly want to see succeed beyond expectations.
Let me tell you: Jaron Lowenstein works.
In the ten years I've been a fan of Evan and Jaron, I've watched and listened as Jaron's singing, playing, and songwriting has grown and matured, and it only gets better with time. And while you'll have to pry his recordings out of my cold dead hands, they pale in comparison to hearing him in person - he comes alive in front of an audience, now in a way I've never seen before. I've seen him perform six times since 2001, thrice with his brother and thrice solo. Watching him solo is at once wonderfully familiar and glowingly new, and all around a highly satisfying experience.
Try him out. You won't regret it.

I too agree Gracie. These guys and Jaron solo is not what he or they used to be as a group.
He write songs now that tell stories, that get into the very fabric of everyday life, song about heroes and anti-heroes folk songs almost.
At times there can be a reflective view that is almost Radiohead meeting a brand of tightly written John Lennon type solo act songs.
I expect big things in the future, but haven't heard of a "next" so who knows? The facebook page "Jaron and the Long Road to Love" is exactly the type of truth running into a sly joke type thing. Whatever it may be it is good and certainly intelligent and thought out. I'm a guy and not a Barbra Streisand type either, but a more balls to the walls type who wanders off to the indie section quite often as well.
To say I listen to this is like saying I listen to Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne or Jeff Buckley.

I have been listening to Jaron since he was about 18 years old and I must say you're both right.
I had the opportunity to see Jaron perform Live again just recently after many years and was so impressed with the show. His interaction with his audience was refreshing. His songwriting just keeps getting better and better. While he has always been talented, the new work allows for a new appreciation of his solo performance and raw talent.
Since I was a child, I have been blessed to be around some of the most talented Musicians and Songwriters in the world. I know talent (and trash) when I see it and, more importantly, Hear it. JARON LOWENSTEIN is a gifted Singer/Songwriter on the Keys and Guitar.
