R.E.M. is releasing their full performance from their appearance at Austin City Limits, including three songs not included in the original broadcast as part of the long-running series aired on PBS, on October 26.
The show was recorded in 2008 as part of their Accelerate world tour and the audio of the 17-song performance is mixed in stereo as well as DTS-HD 5.1 surround. While the set list does include songs from throughout their career, much of show is from the Accelerate album.
Live From Austin, TX is the second live package to emerge from this period of R.E.M. Live At The Olympia was a 2-CD set taken from rehearsal shows when the band was writing and arranging the songs that would become Accelerate. In addition to those songs, they played loads of rarities and fan favorites. Austin was filed after the new album was released and the band is performing the now-finished versions of those songs. We now have the before, during, and after chapters of Accelerate documented on CD and DVD.
Fans wanting more rarities might be a little disappointed with this set list but the Olympia set was extremely generous in that regard. This set captures them performing some of the best songs of the post-Bill Berry era.

That's awesome. As R.E.M. is in my top three favorite bands, I'll have to look for this when it comes out. Thanks for the heads up.

I love REM but I get a sense that they know they have peaked and like many bands near the end of their creativity, are releasing more live material than you would expect.

I love REM, and I actually enjoyed Accelerate, so yay!

This release sounds like another winner Josh, but I'm sure you'll agree that nothing will beat the Live At Olympia 2-CD set, that's for sure.

Absolutely, Charlie. The Olympia set is an all-time champion and one of the best things they've released in their glorious career. I'm going to grab this one but there's no way it competes with Olympia in my heart.
