Long story short I had the biggest crush on a girl in college. I practically edited the entire school yearbook by myself just to get in her good graces (she being the actual editor left for home during the summer break not even half way completed with the annual.) During this same period I made her a mix tape (what better way for the tongue tied to express his feelings?) and she loved it. It said a lot of cryptic stuff, but never went overboard on the lovey dovey. She liked it so much, in fact, that I made her a second one which was a little more direct. It included this song and I made the mistake talking about the lyrics (which are all about a shy guy telling the girl of his dreams how he feels) and I felt the instant cold shoulder.
It’s not that she wasn’t somehow flattered or that she wouldn’t have said yes, had I actually asked (in fact she soon started dating the next guy who did ask solely for the fact that he asked,) but it must have been a little creepy to have this fellow making tapes like that without actually expressing any of those feelings in real life.
Tis okay now, she married a nice chap, and I found a wonderful woman, but I can’t hear this song now without thinking of all the painful moments longing for someone I could never get the nerve up to talk to.

Nice article...
BUT, when I think of Empire, I DO NOT think of the horns m/...especially to Jet City, That's a little creepy.
Now maybe Operation: Mindcrime but that's still pushing it.

Well we're not really calling upon The Dark Lord. It's just our goofy white boy way of appreciating a little rock.
