Rammstein: Reise, Reise, Amerika, Coca-Cola, Wonderbra - Page 3

A couple of ballads also feature on the album, including one of my favorite songs on this record, "Amour" with vivid imagery,

Love is a wild animal
It breathes you it looks for you
It nests upon broken hearts
and goes hunting when there are kisses and candles
It sucks tightly on your lips
and digs tunnels through your ribs
It drops softly like snow
First it gets hot then cold in the end it hurts
Amour Amour
Everyone just wants to tame you
Amour Amour in the end
caught between your teeth

rammstein
The band is often accused of a sort of crypto-fascism, primarily because of their hard-driving tonalities and imagery, but even a close reading of any of their songs does not bring out any such theme. One of the band members commented, "...The German media sometimes gets carried away with such things. There was even one critic who said that the way Till rolls his 'r's' when he sings is supposed to mimic the way that Hitler used to speak! How silly can they get. We've never written a political song in our life, and we probably never will. It's just reverse discrimination because we are German. Kraftwerk had the same thing happen to them twenty years ago. If we were Spanish or Dutch, there would be no problem."

The band last toured in the United States in 2001, after the release of their album "Mutter". They tour in Europe this year. This is a good, dark, Germanic album.

"Keine Lust": I would have translated that as "No Joy" - it's more literal and it works better as a title and summary of the lyrics.

"Freedom is playing on all violins
Music is coming out of the White House"

I wonder if that isn't a vague reference to Nero...

Rammstein, and German language in general have some clever wordplay in that the speaker above does not want to do any f those things because he receives no joy from doing them.

This album is not quite as wide ranging in its atmospherics, and not quite as crunchy in the guitars, or as quirky in the keyboards, but it is still a very good album. My kids love dancing around and singing the chorus to "America", too.

All of that retarded media just makes me hate reading the paper all over again. It's retarded how they think that just because Rammstein are dark means they are devilish or they represent evil omens. It's crap.

The album by the way, is pure genious, love Reise Reise, Mein Teil,Keine Lust, Los, Moskau, Ohne Dich, and Amour. It's all good. Awesome on your review, it's more detailed then most reviews I find on Reise Reise reviews.

its a pity he didn't write about Ohne dich, because its the darkest song Rammstein ever made...
i understood that a murder happened and now the singer can't find peace because he missses his victim too much. its just awesome...

By the way I never liked Rammstein, but this CD is amazing and my favorite cd ever...
